Summary
Jay should likely be less surprised than he is when Mal abandons their crew to cozy up with Uma and Chad Charming, of all people. The Core Four had been fracturing for a while – it was an unquestionable, unaddressed fact – he’d just thought that maybe Mal would have the decency to tell them it was over rather than just shoving it in their face. He’d thought that maybe their history together would warrant that courtesy.
But it doesn’t, and that’s fine, Jay guessed. It was less fine when his magic started acting up, but it was nothing he couldn’t handle.
And then maybe slowly but surely he couldn’t handle it, to the point where he needed a formal session with the Magic Council of Auradon. To the point where he had to go to the remote shores of Ahtohallan just to work through it all.
But it was okay, Jay could get through this alone. He could. He would.
Probably.
ALSO KNOWN AS – That time the Core Four learned to get better at communicating with each other while Jay learned to get better at communicating with himself, and maybe also dealt with his childhood trauma rather than pretending it doesn’t exist at all. You know, like a healthy person.

You want to,” Jay then looks Doug up and down, “practice some moves together?” His smirk intensifies after he drags his tongue over his teeth. Lust - or maybe it’s just amusement - forms in his night sky black eyes as he continues to flirt.A slight flush on Doug’s tan face starts to accompany his deep breathing. Mal didn’t like Auradon, but when it all but threw allies into her lap, who was she to ignore them? Chad and Doug might not seem like the biggest prizes in the world, but as far as pets went, they were pretty okay. Decent at supplying information, and Chad was kind of funny, she guessed.
And maybe, just *maybe* Mal was getting a little too attached to them, but the sex was good and their dedication unwavering and if she had to be in this shitty place anyway, she may as well get some benefits.
Also known as: That time Mal accidentally acquired two boyfriends and then accidentally fell in love with them, or maybe just acknowledged that she was capable of love the whole time, and that love extended past her two newest pets.
