Summary
[Canon divergence at the end of 'The High Lord'. Sonea manages to save Akkarin, though she does not realise what she has done until it is too late.]
When Sonea tries to save Akkarin, she heals him with the energy she does not realise comes from their unborn child. This fanfic goes through how the guild decide what to do with Akkarin and Sonea, and their eventual healing together. Akkarin faces his PTSD from both this war, and from being a slave. Although Sonea is there to help him, she can venture outside the guild walls, whereas he cannot. After years of having purpose, depression overtakes him.
As for Sonea, she throws herself into helping those in the slums rebuild while also trying to finish her studies. This is to help distract her from the memories of those she has killed, but also the loss of the child she knew she wanted. This is even more of a challenge when she sees how little the dwells trust magicians; even her, who was once amongst them. Together they will help form the future of the magicians guild, whether the magicians want to admit it, or not.
