Ned manages to get a message sent to Robb, after discovering the truth of the Lannister incest but before Robert's death/Neds capture.
Generally more positive for Stannis & Robb than canon (granted that's not hard…), but firmly not in wank territory aiming for something closer to GRRM's bitter sweet preferences.
The plan is to split the story into three parts (they are a bit too short, at least in this fandom, to call them books)
1 Call to War (complete) chapters 1-30, the alternative War of Five Kings
2 Tears for Autumn (ongoing) chapter 31-??, Focuses more on the challenges of peace building/making and how the Watch prepares for the Others when it is actually getting decent backing from the Crown.
3 Prayers for the dawn chapters ???-??? not started yet.

A storm. A remembrance. Then more. More and more and more remembrances rain down upon his hunched shoulders. Old memories long since pushed down, crawl up. New memories, fresh from the fire, float down. Memories and remembrances are resurfaced by the storm without that raged around Storm's End. And by the storm within that lashed at his love forged soul.
A journey is started at its ending. A path is trodden backwards. Looking back, the past remembrances show the many steps taken that brought him here. Past remembrances show him the rocky path that brought him to where he is now. Past remembrances drag him back to the start, when that unknown path stretched ever forwards, vanishing off into an unknown future.
The King Who Cared is reminded of why he still needs to care and of who he needs to care for, before the storm of his past drags him down...
