George breathes in and holds his breath, knuckles clenched. When he does exhale, Dream can smell the distinct scent of ash. “Because you make people look at their own sins,” George spits out, “and humans would rather blame others than themselves.”

Dream is an angel.
George is a demon.
Sometimes it feels like it should be the other way around. -

He draws closer, drifting down to lay beside George. Those dark brown eyes turn to him and a bright smile lights up George’s face. “Hey.” He offers his hand. Sapnap looks at it for a moment, considering the lines on George’s up-turned palm. He hesitates. Is he really doing this? One look into George’s eyes is all it takes. Sapnap takes his hand, curling close to him to press their lips together.
Nothing happens.

What if George doesn’t want to talk to him? What if he blew it for good? What if-
“Would you just get in here instead of shuffling around in the hall like an idiot?” George’s voice calls out to him and Sapnap feels a sense of contentment settle over him at just that small amount of interaction. He presses his hand against the door and takes a step in.
George’s room is in slightly better condition than Sapnap’s, if only because it’s not covered in week-old slick and cum. There’s clothes everywhere and the trash can by his desk is overflowing onto the floor. George is on his bed, naked from the waist up with his face covered in stubble that looks like it’s been growing out since he left Sapnap’s room. Maybe it has.
“George?” Sapnap says his name softly. There are dark circles under the eyes that turn to greet him. Sapnap stops in his tracks. “George?”
Brown eyes flash bright and George’s body lifts from the bed snappily. He strides up to Sapnap, reaching behind him to shut the door harshly. He smells like himself. Sapnap has to resist the urge to drink it in openly. “What do you want?”

If you asked Tommy where he would be 16 years after being found by the Demon King and his two loyal friends; He would not even think about the idea of being on the run, in the overworld, hiding his identity while being joined by a noisy human, a terrifying piglin and a goddamn angel. But that's where he was.
Did he mention that the demon king is also after him and wants to kill him?
Did he also mention that that same angel's duty is to kill any demon on sight?
Needless to say, there's no way this story ends without any hiccups.

Summary
Guarding demon portals wasn't the most fascinating task a knight could be assigned to. Even with how useful it was still boring. Dream and Sapnap would know something about it being a part of one of the demon intervention squads. They so far were sent to five portals since becoming knights and it never got any less boring, more if possible. After two portals they already knew everything that could happen. Some pig demons would come out with swords and crossbows, sometimes with some other time, they would defeat them, a mage would come, close it.
Badboyhalo, the demon lord of the Basalt Delta. Bad to friends - mainly four other lords and Antfrost's lover Velvet. He wasn't a fan of going to the overworld. It was noisy, cold and too bright. Far too bright, he was used to the dim light of glow stone and lava, not the sun. It wasn't warm enough to justify the level of light it gave out. No matter how much he disliked the overworld he had some duties and one of those was establishing outposts and terrorising lands surrounding them. Possibly the most enjoyable part of his job. Overworlders were nothing but vile creatures and didn't deserve his pity. No sir. None for them.
