The heart doesn’t work with just the ventricles. It needs the atria. Blood is pumped into the ventricles by the atria. Without them, the ventricles wouldn’t have any blood to send out to the body. Yet here in front of Sakusa was a heart made up of just the two ventricles, somehow powering a body as if it were nothing. It made sense what Atsumu was saying, but it wasn’t true. Osamu was gone and nothing would change the fact. Not his denial, not his anger, not his bargaining, not his depression, and not even acceptance.
