Rey stood up and he was on his feet in a moment, too- thoughtlessly, she went to lunge for the door in sheer terror, but he grabbed her and dragged her backwards, covered her mouth with a ridiculously large hand.
“Shh, shh- I’m not gonna hurt you. Yet. Shh…”
She shivered almost violently and stared at the door. His breaths fell gently on her ear, his cheek just barely touching her head. He had one arm slinked around her body, and the other pressed firmly over her mouth.
“Poor girl- you’ve lost so much fight,” he noted softly. He moved in closer, his nose brushing the top of her ear. “And you don’t smell anything like strawberries- get yourself some strawberry shampoo, sweetheart. We’ll have a much more pleasant relationship that way.”
Rey shuddered and feebly fought his hold on her. He sighed, then pressed three kisses into her scalp-
Just like he had before he’d set her loose and she’d ran away like a bat out of hell fourteen years ago. “I’ll see you tomorrow, shortcake,” he said softly, and then, he let go.
Rey surged forward to the door and opened it, pressing it shut behind her. She remained leaning on it for a few seconds as someone approached.
