The smell of iron assaults him as a smooth hand grabs his wrist and holds Daniel’s trembling hand up, scoffing at the pain and fear Daniel can feel spreading across his face. He remembers how embarrassment had followed, hot shame turning his cheeks pink. Why should he be scared of a little blood?
