Summary
Jehan makes a valiant attempt to read Combeferre's future in tea leaves—if only their ridiculous friends could stop interrupting.
~
With exacting clinical precision, Combeferre swirled the cup once, twice, three times, his lips moving almost imperceptibly as he counted down each revolution under his breath.
“Now,” Jehan wiggled his fingers in the air, as if feeling a charged breeze wafting through the room, “I will reach into the energy of the universe. I will peer through the metaphysical veil, part the curtain of mystery, unlock the vault of the unknown future—”
“Jehan…”
“Alright, alright.”

“At the side of Enjolras, who represented the logic of revolution, was Combeferre, representing its philosophy. The difference between logic and philosophy is that one can decide upon war, whereas the other can only be fulfilled by peace.” -- Victor Hugo

Summary
Combeferre started his lesson with life:
“Anh, pronounced Ankh, is the word for life."
It felt more poignant to him, in the wake of the July Revolution. He had tried to decipher and dissect the Revolution. All he had found was an uneasiness that lingered heavily in the air, as well as blood splatters. The birth pangs had resulted in a stillbirth. In 1831, Combeferre and Prouvaire discuss July Revolution, hieroglyphs, religion and ghosts, as Combeferre comes to terms with the fact that when it comes to Revolution, while he is as committed to the ideals and the means to achieve them as his friends, he still wants to keep his divided heart.

Summary
"Courfeyrac, wake up," Combeferre whispered into the man's ear, "Courfeyrac." He rasped, his voice barely rising any higher then a murmur. He knew, right then, that his friend was gone. And his mind, his sanity, left entirely. He was shattered. He was gone, along with all of his friends. He could hear the people around him talk, hear tiny glimpses of their conversation, as he gasped for breath, feeling the firewoman's gentle restraint again.
It only took one second to start the devastating fire, that destroyed everything. Or, ANGST ANGST ANGST.

Summary
“Do the rings under my eyes make me look shady?”
“No more than usual,” Musichetta said. “Worried about your image?”
“About my customers.” Grantaire blew on his cup of coffee. “I mean, you'd get that, right? It's our business to be trustworthy.”
“No, that's my business,” Musichetta corrected. “Your business is to seem trustworthy and never let people know that there's not a magically gifted bone in your body.”(In which Grantaire pretends to have magic, Enjolras pretends not to, Jehan struggles to work out the morals of working as an alley witch, and Musichetta just wants to tell fortunes from the back of her kiosk in peace.)
