He discovers she's alone during the holidays and offers to take her out to eat somewhere nearby. Typical Majima storytelling shenanigans ensue, referencing two of the substories.

The illusion of freedom is a chain on its own; and Majima is a free man as long as he stays in the city, as long as he keeps doing his job; as long as he ignores the sword hanging above his head. If he just lets the sun pooling in his apartment, the serene river and gulls shrieking under his window lull him.
