It was that spore-like fear, beginning at the base of his skull and slowly overcoming his very mind, the fear that he would be found out for his negligence in his spying after Mr. Chidouin, that had placed the bomb in Kai's hand and set off the detonation in the ASU-NARO building.
That and his rising suspicion that Sara’s very livelihood had become at stake. It was, in the end, the only weakness he had left. The only one his uppers could exploit… and the only one that could drive him to commit to such an extreme.
Kai Satou ends the death game before it can begin. He faces some unusually gentle consequences for his actions.
