Summary
Liu Peizhi comes from the provinces, to take up a position as a seventh level clerk at the Ministry of Justice. His first assignment is to investigate the misappropriation of funds meant for the widows of soldiers by the late Duke Xue.
Meanwhile, the Emperor is very sick, and has asked Marquis Xie to be his Regent. Liu Peizhi wonders why everyone is so scared of Marquis Xie, but as he investigates the misappropriation of money, he starts to understand why, and to learn more about the strange history of the Xue family…

Summary
When Jian Shu’s revered teacher tells him and Dao Qin that they must spy on a spoiled young noblewoman, they are at first confused. As the reasons for Xie Wei’s unusual interest in the noblewoman become more evident, Jian Shu becomes more and more worried about his master.
[I didn’t actually mean to write this - I meant to finish off one of the other stories I’m writing. But… here we are. I did promise to write something about the perspective of Xie Wei’s sidekicks, back when I was looking at the eunuchs’ view of this drama. Now finished.]

Summary
[I wrote this a while back, but the scenes didn’t work. I have COVID, so what to do, except go over the scenes and make them work!]
Minister Gu Chunfang has come back to the capital from Jibei Province to take up office as the Minister of Justice, and found that his protégé Zhang Zhe is embroiled in a dangerous mess. He’s deeply suspicious of the Junior State Preceptor Xie Wei, and of the State Preceptor’s beautiful student, Jiang Xuening, who just “happens” to keep bumping into Mr Zhang. After Zhang Zhe’s mother dies, Mr Gu finds that Mr Zhang is in deep waters…
Features a silly limerick. I put this down to COVID fever.
