Welcome to part two of the series "The Little Mermaid: Life With Mother" as we recall our favorite little mermaid's life with the addition of her mother! In the last work, we covered the storyline of Ariel's Beginning and now we will be reworking The Little Mermaid to include her mother.

Now Eric finds himself suddenly tangled up in the rivalry of two mysterious maidens both claiming to be his rescuer. Based on The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning.
After scraping off barnacles as her punishment and meeting Flounder, Ariel sat by her bedroom window sad and tired. That night, what if she didn't see Flounder sneaking around? What if she saw a ship? With fireworks? With music? With humans. And on that ship was a young man named Prince Eric who is also living in the same situation as Ariel. After seeing a human and hearing music again after so many years, Ariel starts to feel a sense of happiness and gets a new, unfamiliar feeling.. love, perhaps? Would she see Prince Eric?
Meanwhile, a dark, magical creature is hiding in the shadows, watching and waiting for her time for vengeance.
WARNING: Flounder is a dolphin, and mermaids can eat fish. There might be some bad grammar, so sorry.

We all know the stories that end in happily ever after, but these all seem rather trivial at the surface level. What if our favorite characters had psychological stresses like each one of us? (anxiety, PTSD, etc.)? My creation is a modern (Cell Phones/Cars/etc.) take on what happens right after the wedding scene on the barge. It's our favorite couple, Ariel/Eric, facing the life ahead of them of being in charge of the kingdom, and eventual task of starting a family. This tells the adventures, troubles & everything in between. Queen Athena's still alive. No crossovers/genderbends, but HEA. All references belong to Disney, and this story is dedicated to the "Little Mermaid" cast, Howard Ashman, and all of the dreamers like me out there, who continue to look for the next adventure. I hope you enjoy.

She looked down at herself, and around at the sea between her fingers. Nothing felt right or good, nothing seemed like it fit. How could one feel so removed from what they needed to be? How was it possible for one person to feel so wrong and terrible about not only the way they looked and the way they were called but also where they lived and how they could live? Her life seemed one disappointment after another. She took a look at the items on the shelves, she had collected so much, truly anything she needed or wanted from the human realm could be found somewhere on that. Why couldn’t having the human items just be enough? Why couldn’t the clamshell bra and hair accessories be enough? Ariel thought back to the way her father had responded to her being at the surface. He called them barbarians, savages, yet to her, they were what she strived to be. He didn't even know the first thing about her it seemed or humans for that matter. Sure there were some bad ones every so often, but then again Aquata also existed, so it balanced out.

The two became the closest of friends, hunting for treasures of the deep. However, everything changes when Ariel saves the life of a human, kickstarting a series of events that the Apprentice wishes he could change but knows he must let come to pass.
