Laying here was starting to make him sleepy, so Mickey let himself get comfortable, soon to be lulled to sleep by the warmth and unique smell of Ian radiating towards him. Except just when he was on the verge of nodding off, he felt a small hand shaking his arm.
It was the littlest Gallagher. A blanket was over his head, with only his face peeking out of it. His big brown eyes were wide, not that he could blame him with all the ruckus going on.

Sick to the point that he's in the hospital after an emergency triple bypass and the doctor is suggesting to Mickey that he be placed in a retirement home.
Not that Mickey is a spring chicken himself.
In their seventies Ian and Mickey are in the golden years, their adult children Yevgeny and Rue are there to help them bounce back from Ian's heart attack.
But when Ian starts having sundowners episodes in the evening, they may not have a choice about going to a retirement home.But fifty years ago when they met, there was a different ending planned. Where Mickey would go back with Ian to where they first met, and go back to his home.
Will they be able to make it back there together before they are forced apart?

It was so strange to have wings.
Most of the time Mickey didn't feel them physically, nothing more than the soft touch of feathers or the rustle of wind as he moved, but when he saw them or covered himself with them, yeah...the sight of them, even after six months, was pretty strange.
But Mickey wasn't too hung up on the wings, after all he liked them, and besides them he had plenty of other open questions, like the fact that Mickey was apparently bloody dead.
I mean...not that he had a certificate or a tin of ashes on him, but how else do you get to heaven and get angel wings and become a Guardian of Souls? So the answer was self-evident.

Fiona froze, Debbie jolted, and even Mandy looked taken aback by his emotional display. Their shocked looks quickly faded though, and were replaced by near-identical expressions of pity.
This might have infuriated Mickey if he had room to feel anything besides the panic and desperation currently flooding him, which likely came across as anger anyway.
He jabbed a finger at the eldest Gallagher sibling. "We're taking care of him HERE; you, me, us! He's fucking family."

No one believes that Mickey is capable of caring for his bipolar boyfriend, and he is determined to prove them all wrong. They'll put Ian in a nuthouse over his dead fucking body.
