In another timeline, things would have been better for Tubbo. Maybe still a bit tense and shitty, but better. He couldn’t help but think that as he stared at the sunrise before him, sitting on their— his favorite bench.
It has been three months since the final confrontation with Dream. Despite how much time had passed already, it felt like all those days were either too quick to pass or too slow to handle.
Must be part of the grieving process.

The SMP has been different since Dream was locked up in Pandora's Vault. Most people have been able to continue as though nothing has changed. Some are still grieving. And few are still processing Tommy's death.
No one has bothered visiting Dream after what happened.
Returning after a long slumber only to find Tommy gone, Ghostbur decides to be the first visitor. He thought Dream was a friend— not anymore, though— but part of him wanted to know why Dream had resorted to the things he did.
Ghostbur's decision will have quite the affect for the others, especially Tubbo.

'TOMMY' Dream shouted, 'Your time's up.'
'What will it be Tommy? The Disc's or Tubbo?'
'I choose Tubbo'
And with a sigh, he handed over Mellohi.
Dream smiled.
'If I can control you, I can control the SERVER again!' He laughed, 'It's not the Tommy SMP or the Tubbo SMP is it now? IT'S THE DREAM SMP!'
'Give back Tubbo,' said Tommy, defeated.
Dream laughed again. 'This time is was crazed. 'No way, I'm gonna kill him!'
Realizing his fatal mistake of trusting Dream, Tommy raced towards him, not caring if he injured himself, just Tubbo.. needs... to be... safe. He was too late.
Tubbo fell to the floor, lifeless.

“Can you explain it to me?” Tubbo asks, and somehow the resigned tone in his voice causes a deeper ache in Ranboo’s chest than anger would have, than pain would have.
“I can, if you want,” He replies quietly, and he doesn’t stutter-- that’s the worst part. There’s no hesitance to it. He still knows he’s in the right. Even now. Even with the pain it’s causing. Even though, at the end of all things, he’s chosen a side.

He imagined a scenario where Punz had had a heart, and despite the pittance of gold and other valuables, had come through the portal two minutes ago, before Tubbo had been yanked out of his arms. He imagined Punz, and everyone else that had met with the two along the path, before they had travelled past Eret’s dumb castle, even scaredy-cat Ranboo, in their best armour, their sharpest weapons at the ready to protect him and Tubbo, and as a server they’d get rid of the real evil once and for all.
“Come on, get up, Tommy.”

“But Tommy if you kill me then death is permanent.”
His words, his claim hung in the air for a few moments, why should Tommy believe him? All Dream has ever done on this fucking server is lie but could he really take that risk? If he was telling the truth, Wilbur… Tubbo. His face wandered over to his best friend. He deflated again.
“I can bring Tubbo back, Tommy, I can even bring Wilbur back,” The admin pushed himself up and jumped back to his feet, looming over Tommy, “I could do it right now, all I ask is for you to come with me.” He was certain that the admin was smirking underneath the mask.
He owed Tubbo this much. He owed Wilbur this much. He knew Dream well enough back now to know that more hid behind the simple deal that he was offering but what else could he do?
The masked man held his hand out towards Tommy, “Well, do we have a deal?”

Dream succeeds in killing Tubbo during the finale disc war however agrees to revive him if Tommy goes with him.
