“What we’re about to do will be perilous! Very perilous! Some of us won’t be coming back, and to those of you who do decide to split from the group, you know the drill—tell your buddy where you’re going and with who, and we’re not talking nicknames, people! We’re talking verifiable identification! Do you all have your buddies?”

Summary
The man piques an eyebrow and Stede immediately feels foolish for waving over a complete stranger just because he likes the look of him. His ploy works, however, and soon he finds the other man seated across from him, placing his pristine helmet on the table between them, trapping his newspaper.
They just look at each other a moment, the stranger with a bemused look on his face and Stede realizing quite rapidly that his plan didn’t go past this point.
Well, in for a penny, in for a pound.
Coffee shop owner Stede Bonnet finds a certain biker coming into his shop repeatedly and flags him over in hopes of striking up a conversation, or maybe something more.

Summary
Ed didn’t believe the town of Cupid’s Cove was capable of influencing the love lives of its inhabitants. People fall in love every day, occasionally in quaint seaside towns. It’s not that deep. And that was perfectly fine with him.
Until Stede Bonnet blew into his inn one afternoon and literally knocked him off his feet.

Summary
Ed’s phone dings on his nightstand, causing Stede to stir. “What is that, love?” he asks, his voice groggy.
“Just my phone.” Ed reaches for it, squinting at the screen. He’s got a text from an unknown number. Probably just spam, but he opens it just in case. His stomach drops when he sees the first words: hey eddie!
There’s only one person who’s ever called him that.

Ed feels his heart begin racing, his body breaking out in a cold sweat. He’d blocked Jack’s number months ago. He must have gotten a new one. He hasn’t been checking his blocked texts. Has Jack been texting him this entire time?

Summary
Two months after stumbling upon Revenge Cafe and becoming enamored with Stede, its owner, Ed and Stede are finally heading out on their first date.
-
“Am I allowed to know where we’re going yet?” Ed asks. Stede had set the whole thing up, said there was a place he’d had in mind. There are a few restaurants in the area that Ed thinks might be possibilities, but he has no idea what to expect from this lunatic.
“Oh, yes!” Stede says, sounding like he’s just remembered that he never told Ed. “Lucius told me about this place, supposed to be very good. Blackbeard’s Bar and Grill, have you heard of it?”
Ed sucks in a sharp breath, nearly choking on his own spit. Stede glances at him as he coughs, concerned and Ed waves him off. “Blackbeard’s? Oh, yeah, I’ve heard all about it.” Of fucking course Stede would pick, out of all the restaurants in the city, Ed’s. His mind is racing as he tries to remember who’s on tonight. Jim’s bartending, he’s pretty sure. Fang’s hosting, and Ivan’s serving, he thinks. And Izzy…
Izzy is, of fucking course, covering for him, because Ed asked him to.

Summary
After that he felt equal to checking the group chat. It read like sports commentary (he assumed). Things started out fine, with a few nice and correct comments about how hot he and Ed looked. Then there were some grainy but damning photos of the two of them groping and a tidal wave of WTFs and LMAOs followed, along with some impressed and baffled comments about how long they had been kissing for. Great. Wonderful.

Summary
After a bad breakup, Ed stumbles upon a late-night coffee shop run by a hot blond with a kind smile, and falls faster than he thought possible.
-
There’s someone sitting at one of the tables, blond with a mug in front of them and a book in hand, though, so he tries the door and it opens. The blond looks up at the tinkling of the bell, a look of surprise on his face. It immediately melts into a welcoming smile and Ed freezes in the doorway, feeling like he’s been struck blind by the brightness of this man.
“Oh, hello,” he says, marking his place in the book with what looks to be an old receipt and setting it aside. He stands, smoothing out his shirt, a tight short-sleeve button-down patterned with what looks to be moths. Christ, but the way his shoulders fill out that shirt is insane. “Welcome to Revenge Cafe. First time here?” he asks, giving Ed a light once-over. “I do think I would have remembered if someone like you had been in before.”

Summary
“So uh,” Ed started, sitting back down on his stool, fidgeting with the stitching of the leather, “You own that Lighthouse Cafe place, right? I’ve seen you close up shop a few times while I’m cleaning up for the night.”
Ed had noticed him before.
“Why, yes, I do!” Stede beamed. “You should come over some time, I’ll make you whatever you want. On the house, as penance.”
