    In one universe, Shaak Ti discovered the practices of decommissioning and reconditioning once she was posted on Kamino. In that universe, the Council did what they could. It still wasn’t enough.

    In this universe, someone slipped up, and the words decommissioning and reconditioning made it into a report sent to GAR High Command. Obi-Wan Kenobi was the first to see it, the first to question it. He was the first to decide it had to end, and he petitioned the Senate for an official ban. Unsurprisingly, he was refused.

    Obi-Wan found that utterly unacceptable. If no one else could or would do it, then he would do whatever it took to protect the clones. But as it turned out…

    All the clones had needed was a little nudge, some support, and a high-ranking officer who would look the other way. Once they had that, it grew from a fight for their lives into a fight for their freedom. And if the clones weren’t going to be given their freedom…

    They were going to take it.

    (Alternately: Cody and Obi-Wan Kenobi make the slow descent from dutiful leading members of the GAR to spearheading a rebellion against the very thing they once supported.)

    Vader is a technical genius, it is a well-known fact. So, following his defeat at the hands of his old Master on Mustafar and the rise of the Empire, Vader executes his greatest act of genius to prove his dominance: he creates an artificial intelligence modeled after Obi-Wan Kenobi.

    After the rise of the Empire, nothing remains of Commander Cody except for CC-2224, just another rank-and-file stormtrooper among many. He goes where he is told to go, shoots where he is told to shoot, and doesn't question it because good soldiers follow orders.

    A droid told to be human meets a human told to be a droid. They meet somewhere in the middle.

      CC-2224 can hear his own blood rushing in his ears over the steady crackle of the lightsaber. His vision narrows, staring at the brightest point in the room: the place where Kenobi’s lightsaber and his electrostaff meet, where purple electricity crackles over blue plasma, where the metal glows a molten orange. He pushes, holding the lock between their weapons. He doesn’t even blink, the light leaving afterimages on his retinas. Still, he doesn’t look away.

      And that’s when he hears the breathing. Not his own, though he is panting with exertion. No, CC-2224’s breath, even at its most ragged, doesn’t sound metallic like this.

      He falters, because what else can he do in the face of something like this? He falters, and the AI somehow fails to anticipate him letting up in their blade lock, which means that CC-2224 is sent sprawling to the ground, his electrostaff skittering away from him. He wants to take a moment to catch his breath, but discipline doesn’t allow him to. CC-2224 stands up tall, pretending there’s air in his lungs, and salutes to Darth Vader.

    The quick second where Cody rose up his eyes to look at the glass window that was overlooking the training room, discovering a tall auburn haired man which left Cody‘s mouth gaping at the sight.
    Cody would never tell a soul, but in the back of his mind, he thought that the jedi was drop dead gorgeous.

    -”..oa shit, wait Fox.”

    Cody waved a hand to Fox for the spar to stop, starting to fully turn towards the glass windows, now catching the piece of information in its fullness. The Jedi here only meant one thing.
    Sadly, or not, depending on the point of view, the request came too late and Fox’s fist collided with Cody’s jaw.

    -”Osik! I didn’t thought that would work so well”
    Fox started fussing over Cody like the mother tooka he was.
    -”you alright ori’vod?!”

    When Ben leaves Bandomeer, it's after an unexpected rescue from an unruly group of pirates. The Jedi have made it clear they don't want him, and his time as a slave in the mines has taught him the galaxy isn't safe. He learns from Hondo how to make a living as a pirate. When the Clone Wars breaks out, it's the perfect opportunity to make big profits so long as one keeps their head down and stays neutral.

    But once Ben meets Commander Cody, neutrality isn't an option.
