The whispered distance between their lips is ripped apart by the shout and a grey blur whizzing past the couple that knocks over cans of zero cola and half-eaten foods. Ricky almost whines and throws his camera when Hao and Hanbin scramble even further away from each other – the moment forgotten in favour of savouring the picnic mat’s cleanliness. Fuck the picnic mat! He almost had it! The mood had been perfect!
He turns to glare at the man who had interrupted his shot only to find him already peering up at his hiding spot through the foliage. The shit-eating grin he wears matches none of the words of apology he mutters to Hao and Hanbin about his stupid dog and forgetfulness. Ricky swears.
Of course, it’s Kim fucking Gyuvin.

Despite Ricky’s insistence that he did not care for Zhang Hao, there was no other reason for his behavior. And when he found out that the cat he had become fond of was actually a human taking advantage of his kindness, how would he react?
Zhang Hao didn’t want to know. Guiltily, he buried himself into the blankets a little further, paws stuck under the pillow to gain some additional warmth.

Summary
It was a simple night. Hao left the mansion a little late for an impromptu trip with Hanbin, but not without a slightly heated argument with his brother, Ricky. He isn't sure where his mistake began. Whether it was when he forbade his brother from sleeping over at Gyuvin's, or when he left against Ricky's protest, or maybe it was when he didn't pick up his calls.
Regardless, Hao wouldn't have expected returning Seoul three days later only to find his brother on the local news.
Or, on the peak of he and his brother's crumbling relationship, Ricky goes missing. Hao has to re-learn how to pick up the pieces now that a vital part has been taken from him. Grief is no stranger, but regret and guilt surely is.

Hao hated to admit it as he watched Hanbin graciously accept flowers and bow deeply in thanks. Even his smile was perfect, cheeks scrunching up and forming little whisker-like wrinkles that the townsfolk were devastatingly endeared by.
Like this, Hanbin fit every description of the rumors that spread across the lands about him. A prince born from light and warmth, beloved by all. The future king of the most bountiful and wealthy kingdom in their time.
Part of him was bitter that he would never get to experience that side of the prince. The other part of him remembered that Hanbin’s biggest fault was one that all the people surrounding him shared.
Hao would never be accepted here. He just needed to remember that fact.
They’re two halves of one coin. They were always destined to meet. But not even the fates know if they were destined to stay together in the end.
