[Mostly on hiatus while I work on a translation of Eugene Onegin. (Something I've wanted to do for a long time, and this project helped me get up the nerve to give it a go.) I still have plenty of ideas for W&P sonnets and I'll be back here eventually!]

In a military training corps. incident, the third-years find themselves having to spend the night in a rural dormitory house as they traverse on foot between one barracks to another without senior supervision for the point of testing their endurance and natural skills. But they all discover to mutinous anger than the dormitory house is a draughty building with one room with no heating, insulation, running water, or furniture. There are some small luxuries, however; Boris does not begrudge Nikolai sleeping with him beneath one of Anna Milkhailovna's hand-knitted covers

With the foretelling that not having two left feet will get them success in the bedroom if so desired, Nikolai attempted to make the best of himself, but Boris maintains only what gives him pleasurable peace
