He unfortunately fails and passes away shortly after his ship violently crashes. Usually this is where it ends, a Hocotate who had been fated to die the moment he set foot on this planet.
The Pikmin won't let him die like that though.

Olimar leaned in with his unlit cigarette and touched the tip to Louie’s lit one. At first he watched as the tip started to catch fire, orange embers burning into the paper, but then he looked up. Louie’s eyes were trained on Olimars, and he realized his eyes were as orange as the embers on the end of his lit cigarette. In all honesty, his eyes were beautiful.
