Viktor was the Dean of Piltover Academy's assistant before he was a TA for the new Professor Talis. Before that, he was just a lowly Undercity kid in a time of great upheaval. Now, in a world where the two cities have broken the cycle of violence, but have not necessarily become kinder for it, he must find his own way.
But first, he must deal with a handsome new associate with goals higher than the sky, his body changing and deteriorating with time, and perhaps the occasional unnecessary feeling or two (which may or may not be related to said handsome new associate). All while working towards a new and better future for both Piltover and Zaun.

An experiment gone wrong causes a lab to blow up, to not lose his job as a researcher at the University of Piltover, Viktor is forced to be a teacher as a disciplinary action. His former partner and now rival, Jayce, is constantly on his tail because of the accident as they argue about the ethics of each other's work. It takes their involvement with the young couple of inventors, Ekko and Jinx, for them to realize that their fight was meaningless.
tldr: Jayce and Viktor are "divorced" academics and make it everyone's problem, it takes them seeing their younger selves in Jinx and Ekko to realize they are actually in love with each other.

After going through all timelines and all possibilities, Viktor knew the only outcome that had Jayce in his life was this.
