Summary
By tomorrow afternoon there would be hundreds of people from all four nations pouring into the Southern Air Temple to celebrate the festivities of Aang’s 27th birthday celebration. Zuko carved a day out of his schedule to arrive early- he wanted to surprise Aang with a gift. He wrote to him asking if they could spend one day together before the festival- just the two of them. There was an unexpected lurch in Zuko's stomach as he unfurled his letter that read “Come as many days early as you can make time for” in Aang’s flowy script.

Aang and Zuko spend a wine and laughter-soaked night reading through unsent letters from Sozin to Roku on the eve of Aang's 27th birthday festival.

Air.
Water.
Earth.
Fire.
My grandmother used to tell me stories about the old days: a time of peace when the Avatar kept balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation and Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked.
Only the Avatar mastered all four elements; only he could stop the ruthless firebenders. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years have passed, and the Fire Nation is nearing victory in the war. Four years ago, my father and the men of my tribe journeyed to the Earth Kingdom to help fight against the Fire Nation, leaving me and my brother to look after our tribe. Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn and that the cycle is broken, but I haven't lost hope. I still believe that, somehow, the Avatar will return to save the world.

Summary
Six years after the end of the war, Zuko joins Katara, Sokka, and Aang in the Southern Water Tribe for a voyage around the southern continent to repair piles of stones along the coast which serve as location markers for sailors. Chief Hakoda is not pleased with the rate of Fire Nation decolonization. On the journey, Zuko and the others stumble upon a raiding ship, even though Zuko insists he ended all Fire Nation raids years ago. Aang gives good advice.
A glimpse into the post-series world of AtLA, darker and more complicated than when they were children; a meditation on people versus country; and a critique of the poison of political compromise, except not in the shitty way the comics did it. Incidentally featuring the legacy of Fire Lord Zoryu's purge of Fire Nation clans (from the the Kyoshi novels).

Summary
Zuko was currently stuck under three different cats and had no way of moving. When he finally thought he might need to find someone to help him, Yue walked into the room.
“Oh, here you are, we are waiting for you,” she said and leaned down to give him a kiss on the temple.
“I was just about to get up but you see the kind of situation I’m in,” he said, gesturing to the cats.
“No wonder, you are a natural furnace,” said Yue, petting the large silver-gray cat. “But I know just the trick,” she added and disappeared after a moment he heard the unmistakable sound of a can opening and all of the cats lunged to get to the kitchen.

Summary
As a child, you didn't care much for the war.
It was to be expected to some extent: too stupid to understand politics; too young to've learned the history; too naive to see it as something bad.
But you didn't care.
And you wouldn't care.
Not until you were fifteen. Not until you met the Avatar.
