Something goes wrong, Shen Qingqiu’s mushroom body plan falls through and an unexpected plotline is triggered.

It’s said that when somebody with a soulmate dies, when their soul departs the body, their tying mark, whatever shape or form it takes, is torn away with it. Usually, this leads to a corpse with an otherwise unexplainable open wound, too late and too dead to ever start healing. Luo Binghe had to put in a lot of careful, delicate work to reshape the skin there. It won’t heal any more past this point, whether he wants it to or not.
As he keeps pushing qi across, he examines the blemish. Wondering what it was. What it will be once again when he succeeds.
In a certain world, on a certain occasion, Luo Binghe - fourteen year old disciple strung up in a shed - is blessed with the gift of a soulmate. It doesn’t change perhaps as many things as it should.

A lone boatman (and ex-emperor) catches fancy lobsters by day and contemplates the couple who ruined his life by night. In the unlikeliest place, he meets somebody.

Day 1: Soulmates. One day, after a particular brutal beating, Luo Binghe finally feels what he feared he might never experience: his soulmate link forming. His soulmate has just been born! …except not really? They're talking to Binghe like an adult? And seem confused, and to be talking to someone else, too? This is very odd, what's going on?
Day 2: Dress up. Binghe goes undercover at a banquet (“you don’t have to” “no, no, I’m going to”). Shen Qingqiu looks on Respectfully.
Day 3: Animal AU. Shen Yuan transmigrated into a PIDW AU with an interesting quirk...
Day 4: Gods. When Luo Binghe was little, his mother sometimes took him to the closest shrine of the god of beasts.
Day 5: Meet ugly. Shen Yuan transmigrates, immediately flees the sect, and then meets Luo Binghe for the first time in less than ideal conditions.
Day 6: Trophy wife. Luo Binghe asks Shang Qinghua an awkward question.
Day 7: Two men, one bed. Shen Qingqiu and Luo Binghe get kidnapped.
Day 8: Free day - spoiling Binghe. Shen Qingqiu fears he’s not an adequate husband. He tries to remedy that. -

“Yuan-Ge.” The voice was muffled, blurry with sleep. Anyone else would look like a mess just waking up, but Luo Binghe made it look like a professional photoshoot. His hair was sleep-tousled, his pajama top unbuttoned and clearly just thrown on, leaving the long length of his toned torso on display.
Binghe had a hard time sleeping in pajamas, though he kindly did his best for Shen Yuan’s sake. They’d come to a compromise where Binghe wore shorts at least when they shared the bed, so it wouldn’t be strange.
Not that sharing the bed with a fellow man was strange! It was just that, as a dog shifter, Binghe was only comfortable when intertwined, using Shen Yuan like a body-pillow. Sometimes his thigh would hike up too far between Shen Yuan’s own, or he’d crush Shen Yuan into the mattress with his whole body, and it was impossible to not have -THAT- touching him, leaving Shen Yuan feeling like a creep taking advantage. At least with a couple layers of fabric between them, there could be less room for misunderstandings.
