Summary
Shanks quickly came to the conclusion that letting Marco meet Beck was a mistake. Benn Beckman was, when it came to Shanks, a pushover. He could be convinced to go along with practically any harebrained scheme, enable any reckless shenanigan, as soon as Shanks turned that brilliant, wheedling grin on him.
Marco was significantly less accommodating.
"We can just stay in the van," Shanks said to him.
The doctor immediately looked pained. "I've seen the van. It's a very nice van," he said in that way that meant he didn't think the van was nice at all, "but you can't live in the van."

Missing scene of "these long years".
A second meeting between Marco the Phoenix and Benn Beckman on the Moby Dick's crow nest during a party where Shanks is consumed by jealousy.
-
“Marco the Phoenix, to what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?” Beckman spoke as the zoan-user landed upon the wooden railing, digging in his flaming talons.
“You promised me a cigarette once, Benn Beckman.” was the answer he received, hand in hand with a playful smirk. An expression of confidence, of mischievousness and things the first mate couldn’t read.
“I did, didn’t I?”

Summary
Beck's jaw clenches, and he bites his lip like he wishes he'd kept that cigarette in his mouth. Shanks should have been aware of a visitor on board, conscious or not, and his disorientation strikes at some of his first mate's worst nightmares. "Marco the Phoenix wanted to say hi," he tells him instead.
"Huh-- Marco?" Shanks tries to sit up, but he aborts the movement about halfway, flinching as the gesture pulls at the bandages wrapped over his chest and the remainder of his arm. "Marco's here?" he asks, trying to sound enthusiastic, but Marco can hear the strain in his voice and see the cold sweat reflecting what little light comes through his drawn curtains. His chest heaves with the effort of breathing. "You should've told me, I would've gone up to meet him."

Summary
It feels a little like nothing should ever be beautiful again, but here they are; the wind whistles, and the grass is a vibrant and brilliant green, sky blue and interspersed with white-cotton clouds.
The memorials tower above them both. The engravings are pristine, the memorials themselves beautiful. Bright spots of colour against white - what Marco thinks must be - marble. Their names. Their legacies. Their memories.
Grief lessens, but never goes away.

Summary
Pirates happen. Luffy happens.
A collection of fic prompt fills and other short ficlets. Mostly canon complaint, not entirely spoiler free. Generally the focus is on gen relationships and character studies, but some implied romance may have snuck in.
