“Tell Barty then. Or your mother, Narcissa. Your brother if it comes down to it. I don’t want you alone in such situation, you could have died.”
“For all it’s worth, I’m sorry about ending it,” Regulus notes, “I just couldn’t take another pregnancy right now.”
“We can wait until you’re ready for another pup. Shh… I know it hurts. You’re okay. Try to sleep it off, and if that doesn’t work, I can cast lenio in the morning.”
“You’re much calmer about it then I thought you’d be.”

Regulus joins Barty on the bed – their bed, noting for the first time, how nice the combination of the scents is.
“Did you sleep well?”
Barty is watching him with love in his eyes, his lips curled up at the sight of his best friend.
“M-hm. I didn’t even wake up nauseous so that’s something. Horny though. Is it normal?”
“Four months in? Yeah, definitely.” Regulus thinks back to this time fondly, how just for a while, he and Tom were finally perfectly compatible. He touches Barty’s face, keeping his movement slow. Barty’s eyelashes flutter, but once he opens his eyes again, they’re filled with softness. He moves closer to Regulus, so close they can feel each other’s breath on their cheeks. Regulus closes his eyes and leans into Barty, accepting but still not prepared for the kiss Barty presses on the corner of his mouth.
“Bee-”
“We don’t have to do anything,” Barty reassures him, “Nothing you don’t want.”
But that isn’t the problem; Regulus wants it. With Barty lying there so pretty, smelling so divine, and looking at him like this, it was hard not to think about it.
“Do you think Tom will mind?” Regulus whispers.
“Nah, he’ll probably find it hot.”Series

It turns out that one Severus Snape is lurking outside the dwelling of his former best friend, providing Voldemort with the opportunity to possess his follower.
Events unravel, with the Dark Lord still active in the game.

Tom knows what he saw in Barty’s memory, the ogling eyes, the pink tint of his cheeks. He knows the boy wouldn’t be against the proposal if it weren’t for a few obstacles. It’s obvious from the way Barty listens so well, the fact that he came here in the first place and the fact that there is an alpha about to enter his rut in the same room, and yet Barty doesn’t move. Almost as if he were searching for reasons to stay.
“I… Regulus. I can’t do that to Regulus.”
“Regulus doesn’t have any say in what either of us should do. Not with the stunt he pulled the other day.” Something about having Regulus’ best friend seems just so fitting. Sure, Regulus did whatever he wanted, but doesn’t that mean that Tom can take whatever he wants?
He knows he should care more. He should send Barty off to the Malfoy Manor and let him heal. Under normal circumstances, that’s what he’d do.
