“What are you doing?”
Skull looked at her for a second, not understanding what she was asking. “Watching kids cry. What are you doing?” he said mockingly.
“Here, I meant,” she didn’t seem to take offense, no matter what lack of sensitivity Skull was using to talk to a child visiting his very dead family member. “You’re dead— unless you’re a creation of my mind— and I’m pretty sure you don’t know my brother, so you’re not here out of sympathy,” Skull rolled his eyes. “And yet, you’ve been here for weeks. What are you doing here?”
To be honest, Skull didn’t even know himself why he was standing there. Well, that wasn’t quite true, but the reason wasn’t something you should tell a grieving little girl. No, Skull really shouldn’t tell her anything.
So he did the exact opposite and told the grieving little girl everything.
“I was wondering if I could possess a brain-dead person.”

Summary
If you were under eighteen, you were old enough to have known some of the worst horrors the earth could provide, but you still couldn’t get served in a damn Wetherspoons. When the Problem started, people barely took it seriously — mostly because the older generations didn’t believe in it. When a majority of them fell victims to Ghost-Touch, they started to realise just how in danger they really were. Safe havens cropped up all over Britain, and many people tried to leave the country. It paid to be selfish in a world like this, and few could be trusted.
The ones with Talent had the best chance at survival. The ones that weren’t so afraid they locked themselves inside their houses the moment the sun began to creep down towards the horizon. The ones who could make a living by finding Sources and trading them for supplies that just weren’t common anymore.
Individually, no one ever really lasted very long after dark. So it was a good job they stumbled across each other when they did.
AU in which the Problem started later and grew out of control more quickly. Merges apocalypse tropes with the Problem universe we already know.

This is my take on that Fallout 4 quest. The show touched on it a bit with Max, but I couldn't help but think:What if Coop and Lucy happened to stumble across a kid trapped in a fridge on their way to New Vegas?
This follows the timeline after the events of HadSad(Had), but can be read as a stand alone as well. Just please be aware that Lucy and Cooper are already fuckin'.

Kipps wiped a shaky hand across his face. “She was supposed to do a job with Kat’s team last night, but she didn’t show. And she wasn’t answering her phone. I called Barnes,” he exhaled. “He said Tendy’s had called him to complain that she hadn’t turned up for her job with them the night before either.”
Lockwood could feel his own hands shaking now, and his face going pale. “She wouldn’t—she wouldn’t fail to turn up for a job,” he stuttered weakly.
“You’re right. She wouldn’t,” Kipps replied softly. “Lockwood, I think Lucy’s gone missing.”
