Zuko knew he shouldn’t cry in front of Firelord Azulon. He should know better. Princes weren’t allowed to cry or show emotions. Yet the stream of tears wouldn’t stop, even as he tried his hardest to stop the onslaught of water flowing down his cheeks, onto his robes and shaking arms.
As tears clogged the eleven year old’s vision, Ozai leaned down to his only son, placing a cold hand to his shoulder. He leaned in close to Zuko’s trembling face, contorted by grief and sadness, and whispered in his ear
“There’s no one to watch your bedroom door now.”

Summary
The Royal Family attempts to help raise spirit shifter ferret Zuko, which leads to a lot of comedy and heart attack inducing moments for Ozai and Ursa. They love their son but they're not very good at this whole parenting thing, and nobody ever told them how you're meant to parent a child that can turn into a fire ferret at will. Azulon, Iroh and Lu Ten are enjoying the show in the meantime while trying to help Ozai and Ursa keep their son's shifting tendencies a secret. Which is a little hard when their mischievous baby keeps ferreting his way out of the nursery.

This fic is a series of oneshots about Ursa and Ozai raising their son and all the trouble that parenting has to offer first time parents. It follows the years as Zuko grows up and the struggles the new parents face. Ozai is a loving father to his son and he is genuinely trying his best.
