Walburga and Orion are dead. Regulus Black is free and ready to finally attend his fifth (and first) year at Hogwarts. He expects a lot of his time at Hogwarts; to be taught nothing he doesn't already know, to become a social pariah and make no new friends, and for Sirius Black to ignore him completely. Unfortunetely for him, only one ends up being true, and it's not either the second two.

Regulus begins a friendship with Lily Evans, with whom he starts a pretend relationship with to make Mary Macdonald jealous and finally confess her feelings to Lily, and against all odds, this plan leads to Regulus reconnecting with his estranged brother and getting into a relationship with the brother-stealing James Potter.

"Hello, mum."
"You've been suffering, Harry," the soul of the late Lilly Jean Potter said gently.
"I don't want this," Harry said. "I didn't want to be special when I was a kid, and I don't want this now."
"That doesn't change what is," mum said. "You are the Master of Death. If you die, you only lose the ability to hide from Death among the living," there was a bit of censure under the gentle words.
"Immortality sucks," Harry spat out. "None of this is fair."
"Life isn't fair," she said, but Harry could swear a male voice echoed behind her. Perhaps it was just his own memories.
When the nightmare came, he didn't run this time. He stood in the void and let the cloying cold and damp envelop him. The cold mist surrounded him and passed over him, but the damp retreated to a respectable distance. There was a presence, an ancient darkness, just out of sight but obviously there. -

Remus Lupin and Severus Snape were close their last few years of Hogwarts, dating for most of it. But, now its 2002 and the two of them haven't even been friends for nearly two-and-a-half decades. That is, at least, until Remus, on a whim, checks on Severus in his house, just to find the man, struggling physically and mentally. The two don't instantly become buddy-buddy, but with the war over and neither with anything to lose, things begin slowly returning to how they were during their teen years. Still, they'll never be the same people again.
That doesn't have to be a bad thing.

Expect American terms like diapers, fahrenheit, pounds, feet, etc.Also, everything in canon(meaning the books, not the stuff before or after it) is the same except that Remus and Tonks didn't date let alone get married because that's fucking weird AF.
One last thing: yes, I know tech and language wasn't exactly this advanced back then, but I needed it to be both 2002 and this advanced, so...*shrugs*
