Summary
“Death began to exist shortly after life did. The beginning of Death’s existence was less like a birth, bloody and terrifying and loud, and a bit more along the lines of a trickle of water making its way off of a leaf and slowly developing a current of drops falling from the weighed-down tip pointed back down to the earth; a guiding force accumulating strength over time simply by nature of that which it was guiding existing in the first place. The current wouldn’t exist on its own, but rather found itself existing and at work because the water had collected on the leaf, and it was collecting too much to stay upright, and so it got weighed down until it all flowed back into what it had come from, the only destination nature ever seemed to send things. Death hadn’t quite grown enough to question nature’s rules or its part in them yet. It was still very young, after all; little more than a slow trickle being nursed on single-celled organisms at the moment.”

Summary
Rio comes home very shaken after a job which hit too close to home. Thankfully her wife (Agatha) and their son (Nicholas) are there to pick up the pieces.
And the voices that implore, "You should be doin' more"
To you, I can admit that I'm just too soft for all of it, ooh
They said the end is comin', everyone's up to somethin'
I find myself runnin' home to your sweet nothings
Outside, they're push and shovin', you're in the kitchen hummin'
All that you ever wanted from me was sweet nothin'
- Sweet Nothing, Taylor SwiftTW: Mentioned child death, mentioned death, mentioned blood.
