She knows she shouldn't, but she’s only ever known one beautiful brunette with the money for dresses like that one and reasons to wear them. The woman she still hasn’t found a way to be honest with, even after three painstakingly long years.
Kara takes a hesitant step forward and watches for just a moment longer, catching the way that she turns and tilts her head, causing raven hair to fall down in front of her. From the angle of their bodies– it’s impossible to get a glimpse of her face, but when the movement is followed by a familiar flipping sound, Kara can’t help it. She freezes.
Because she knows that sound.
There are only two people in the entire world whose heart rates she’s trained herself to notice: Alex and Lena.And Lena’s heart rate just piqued which means Lena Luthor is standing less than ten feet away from her.

Lena leans forward, wincing at the pain that shoots through her from the movement.
It’s as if her stomach has been stuffed full of water balloons. There’s no room for them but they don’t care. They grow and grow, mushing into one another, pressing against her ribs and forcing acid back up into her esophagus. If they pop, she’ll feel relief for a split second before she realizes the water is still rising. It’s filling to the brim with nothing to contain it– nothing to keep it down.

There’s a run-down Victorian home that sits at the end of a dirt pathway. A tipped-over mailbox lays at the end of the walkway, rotting in the grass. The paint chips are peeling off the siding, falling in flakes into the overgrown garden. And a field of grass that once must’ve been so beautiful is now filled with flowers running wild and vines that creep around the pillars supporting the deck.
But the house sits above the lake and when the sun sets, it feels like a blanket of pink and orange is wrapping itself around the land in the warmest hug before tucking away to say goodnight.
It isn’t surprising that Kara thinks it’s the most perfect thing she’s ever seen.

Lena Luthor, having recently moved to National City, meets Kara Danvers. At first sight, they hated one another. Kara let herself be convinced that Lena was just a ‘typical Luthor,’ causing her to be incredibly biased in her trip to Lena’s office. Soon after, Kara realizes her mistake and apologizes. They fall for one another, and during Lena’s confession, Kara blurts out something detrimental: her identity. After a lot of arguing and problems, they finally resolve their issues and get together. Little did they know, they would have many more battles to face together. But, in the end, all that mattered is they were together and persevered.
A spin-off of their story, but I added the incredibly desired romance.
