Summary
Eddie doesn't know what triggers it, but the numbness in him turns violent, and he's rising from the concrete, moving to stand somewhere that isn't near Buck. "Why are you doing this?" He asks. He needs the real answer this time. He needs Buck to tell him the whole truth and nothing else.
Buck makes a pained sound in the back of his throat. "I don't– Eddie, why wouldn’t I do anything for you? You’re my best friend."
Or,
Buck is the one who gets broken up with. Eddie is the one that doesn't know how to cope.

Summary
Here’s the thing, Eddie has never disillusioned himself into believing he was a good Catholic, he only ever stepped in a church when it was at Abuela’s or Pepa’s insistence or his father’s demand. He knows he isn’t a good Catholic, he’s not even sure if he is a Catholic, so why the fuck could he not stop thinking about God?
He thinks back to teenage years, Sundays always dreaded, distinctly feeling like church wasn’t a place he was meant to be. The pews too uncomfortable, the air too stuffy, the hymns too haunting, everything was too much and he wasn’t meant for it. He thinks back to the little boy in Sunday School who sat distracted and wondered ‘what’s the point of all this?’, just wanting to go home to his sisters. Eddie Diaz knew at eight years old that God wasn’t for him, he knew at fifteen that he would never find holy ground, so at thirty-one he knew that God didn’t give a shit and he didn’t give a shit right back, right?
or
After a call at a church Eddie suddenly can't stop thinking about God. Cue a tailspin, repressed memories and emotions, a bit of introspection, and just a bunch of feelings Eddie wished he didn't have to deal with, but he's being better to himself, so he deals with them.
