Summary
Gale finds Astarion after Tav kicks him out for trying to bite him.
xxx
“Better people have died for worse reasons.”
Astarion starts, whether from the words or the anger in Gale’s voice, he’s uncertain. Those eyes narrow more, search over Gale’s face and then he laughs, quick and jagged as the dagger he points towards Gale. “Ah, is that a bit of bloodlust I detect in you, wizard?”
“Not particularly,” Gale lies, moving his hands to ball into fists behind his back. “But I have no shame in admitting I would have needed to feign weeping at the loss.”

Summary
He’s almost looking forward to either falling from the top of the Netherbrain into the River Chionthar, or watching it fall from a safe distance. It’ll be over, then! It’ll be done. He can go hide in the dark, forget this ever happened twice. Astarion can forget Tav. He can move on. Learn to love the dark again, or something.
Astarion wakes up in a pod on the Nautiloid.

Summary
Hilaria twitches in her sleep, just a bit. Her mouth mumbles things that never catch the air, a slight crease between her brows. He wonders idly if she’s caught up in her own nightmares, if the cheery half elf holds some weakness deep within that can only leak out at her most vulnerable.
Regardless, one thought keeps pounding through his skull, even as he looks at the small freckled artificer deep in sleep.
"You are mine, boy. Forever."
or:
When she’s woken in the woods with a man’s teeth at her neck, Hilaria doesn’t realize it’s a vampire. She feels much better once she does.

Summary
He never quite stopped sleeping with a weapon however, nor with his hand far from it. So when he feels the slightest touch in the night, Wyll doesn’t think. There is no time for thinking in a matter of life or death.
He reacts.
Wyll immediately curls his hand around his blade and throws his body against his mystery opponent. There’s a cry of surprise and Wyll takes advantage of that surprise, immediately pinning them under him with his body weight and pointing his blade inches from their neck.
It’s only then, with his opponent deathly still from under him, does Wyll’s mind catch up to him. He’s straddled a humanoid figure, one that trembles under him with their hands up in surrender. And with his Devil’s Sight— a regrettably useful gift from Mizora— Wyll realizes that he recognizes this figure.
(Or Wyll has been ambushed in his sleep before. When Astarion attempts to get a quick bite in, he is met with the instincts of a monster hunter.)

Summary
It’s been nearly a year since anyone has heard from Gale Dekarios. Once a promising mage, he now lives as a recluse, stripped of Mystra’s favor and cursed by netherese magic due to a well-intentioned but catastrophic mistake.
For Florence Ashveil, who left Blackstaff Academy years ago after circumstances thwarted her dreams of becoming one of the best and brightest wizards of her generation, the silence has been even longer. But when their paths cross again just as they are abducted by a Nautiloid ship, it seems they’ll have plenty of time to get reacquainted.

Summary
Sometimes Astarion had to remind himself that there was a difference between a master and a leader. He expected much of what Tar’eon did to be that of an iron fist, like a master talking to his slaves, especially with his intimidating build, but he was…gentle. Disgustingly so, in Astarion's opinion.
***
Astarion found himself often surprised by his heroic companion. He had one goal. To become the favoured companion of the group, to earn the Tieflings loyalty, to make Tar'eons strength his own. Yet Tar'eon isn't like the usual target of his manipulations. Despite his naivety, he does not seem gullible. There is something very wrong with their 'leader' to begin with. Astarion isn't sure if he wants to control it or eradicate the threat it posed. But can he really do either when Tar'eon himself seems so...unwaveringly kind?
That devil is getting into his head, while others get into Tar'eons. He doesn't appreciate not having the upperhand after years of being at the disadvantage. He will find a way to make him see.
He is the one he should be listening to. Astarion would make it so, no matter the means.

Summary
It's commonplace for anyone who wants to keep a vampire alive but remove the danger of being drained to defang them.
When Astarion’s late night attempt to get a taste of blood goes wrong, he assumes the worst.
(Or in which Cazador plants a seed and over a century later, Astarion has help weeding it out.)

Summary
"Astarion!" She's white with horror, frozen. Siobhan makes no attempt to hide her near nakedness. He's already seen too much.
As he gets closer, he can see countless faint white lines crisscrossing beneath the fresh cuts, decades of self-mutilation. This is not the first time she's done this.
"You mustn't tell the others," she begs, tears flowing freely down her face. "Please, they wouldn't understand."
Astarion doesn't know how to respond, struck dumb by what he's caught her doing and her request. Siobhan's eyes search his face frantically, trying to divine what he's thinking and what he'll do next. With a start, he realizes they're playing out the inverse of the night he'd tried to drink from her. Now, he's the one being asked to protect a horrible secret.
But he can hardly focus on what to do next, all thoughts deafened by the sound of her throbbing heartbeat pounding in his ears and the pungent smell of her blood flooding his nostrils.

Bloodletting is a remedy that is hardly possible to estimate too highly. Or that's what they say. Siobhan has enough darkness in her past that maybe a little bloodletting is called for. Unbeknownst to her, Astarion is more than happy to oblige.

Summary
Astarion was focused on Halsin's hand still on her shoulder. It twisted something in his stomach that he didn't acknowledge. Her story was one of hardships and war, and yet she was the kindest soul he'd ever met. It made him… angry. And he didn't know why.
The rest of the night passed with lighter conversations, until a watch was established. And Ursa didn't ask to talk after the others had gone to sleep. She didn't come into his tent and ask to sleep together, to touch him, to pry. She made sure the fire was tended, wished him goodnight with a smile, and went to start her watch and that was it.
Maybe he'd lost the privilege to know her heart.
He told himself that he would be fine with that. Obviously, he would be. He didn't care about any of these people outside of the protection they offered him. And he was fine with that: better yet, that's what he wanted from these assorted freaks. That was his goal from the start.
He stared, seething and scowling at the roof of his tent.
Why was he so mad about this?

Summary
"I don't care that you're a spawn! I'd figured it out a while ago - be a pretty terrible monster hunter if I couldn't spot a vampire spawn! But you bit me without asking, and that's not okay. So, from now on, no biting people without explicit consent! Alright?"
OR: Astarion tries to bite Wyll, and some ground rules are laid down. Surely everything is fixed now, and nothing could possibly go wrong. Right?

Summary
"It’s not what you think!” Astarion defended. “I’m not some monster; I feed on animals! Boars, deer, kobolds-.”
“-And pretty, defenseless women in their sleep?”
“No, of course not, that’s nonsense!” He shook his head, but the taunt left his tongue. “I can barely stand the sight of you.”Or: Astarion can't put his finger on the girl who welcomed him into her band of sorry souls, but he's more than happy to put his lips to a part of her.

Summary
Your journey to Baldur’s Gate may have been planned, but the itinerary certainly did not include eldrich horrors, internal conflict, or hardship. After being infected by a mind flayer tadpole, you must keep the blades of your unlikely gang of misfits away from each other’s throats and pointed at the common foe. The clock is ticking, and each passing day gets you one step closer to losing your humanity.
With so many lives on the line, why is it that all you can focus on is a pale elf with a fondness for your neck?
