The conversation trails off when Wagahai jumps up on the couch arm next to Asougi and vaults over him, landing on Naruhodou’s lap. The yelp and hiss of pain from the other man are not unexpected, and Asougi winces in sympathy. The cat settles down under the tentative pets of Naruhodou’s hand and curls up with its face tucked against Naruhodou’s thigh.An unamused feeling lodges itself firmly in the back of Asougi’s mind. He completely loses track of their discussion as his eyes follow the motion of Naruhodou’s fingers through the soft fur. A loud purr rumbles up from the cat, and it makes the frown between Asougi’s eyebrows deepen.
He’s jealous of a damn cat.

So what if the throngs of people at the festival had to swerve around them because they had been standing in the middle of the walkway, and so what if Professor Mikotoba would consider their conduct entirely inappropriate for the public? There's a distinct lightness in his chest as he hooked a finger under Ryuunosuke's chin and held his stare for a moment as the other trailed off mid-speech.
Only then did Kazuma move closer into Ryuunosuke's space, bending down slightly to lick the ice cream off Ryuunosuke's face in one slow motion.

It is not the first time and certainly won’t be the last that those three words slipped almost accidentally past his lips.
They are supposed to be celebrating the victory along with the rest, but there they are: away from the focus of the party, sitting on two chairs; the metallic sounds from Herlock’s gadgets are the only thing that talks between them. Kazuma is not even doing something to catch his attention: crossed arms, a lost look in his eyes and his mind far gone to another place that isn’t 221B of Baker Street. On the other side of the room, Iris seems to be talking about her latest story, her voice the only thing that resonates above the music playing on the gramaphone. And even then, Ryunosuke just can’t stop looking at him.

No es la primera vez ni será la última donde casi se le escapan esas dos palabras por la boca de manera accidental.
Se supone que deberían estar celebrando junto al resto la victoria y, sin embargo, allí están: apartados del foco de la fiesta sentados en dos sillas, los sonidos metálicos de los artilugios de Herlock Sholmes siendo lo único que combate el silencio entre ellos. Kazuma ni siquiera está haciendo algo para llamar su atención: está de brazos cruzados, con la mirada perdida y la mente en otro lugar que no es el 221B de Baker Street, donde Iris parece estar contando un adelanto de su próximo relato al otro lado de la sala. Su voz es la única que se escucha por encima de la música del tocadiscos. Aún así, Ryunosuke es incapaz de quitarle la mirada a Asogi de encima.
