Summary
Reverend Asher Rook, 31 years old and tall and hulking like a tree, looks like a man not to trifle with. He has surprisingly enough quite a lot of qualms and ideals. Enough that he wants to bring a bit of God even to those lowest in society. Which is why he now finds himself in the brothel district of Frisco, wondering whether this plan hasn't been just hubris. Because so far there doesn't seem much need or want here, for a priest, unless he has coin in his pocket and intent to spend it.
Rook and Chess meet years earlier.

It is ten years after the end of the Lady Rainbow and the true beginning of Hexicas. Ten years after a hole in the ground had swallowed Rev Ash Rook in judgement he'd passed over himself. It's ten years, when the earth spits Asher Rook right back out. Well, his ghost at least.

Caroline meets her eyes. “Gonna give me something else to do?”
Addy leans from the saddle, far enough that her lips graze Caroline’s ear. “Wait and see.”
