They all saw the Eagle, flying out of the North, but no one agreed about what it had carried. Tyelkormo, in a high temper, informed them that the Eagles of Manwë were not beasts of burden, and that it was impossible for the eagle to be carrying anyone at all.
He said this, of course, because Ambarussa – who they still called by that name, even though it cut all of them every time they said it – had whispered, barely loud enough to hear, that he was sure there had been a rider, bright red hair catching in the sun.

Summary
Up the hill, the fort looms with the same gloomy aspect as usual: a squat creature hemmed in anew with a fence many months in the making. Amras wishes that the knowledge of Alexander, safely at home in the stables, and Maitimo, safely—one must suppose—in Maglor’s arms, could be a comfort.
Somehow, it isn’t.

Maedhros knows well the saying that ran through Tirion whenever the seven of them descended upon the palace: Two of them would be worth an army, and three a kingdom- but four would be a war brewed and bursting on the king’s doorstep. Dealing with them is enough of a task for any elf. Dealing with them while they’re ridden with guilt and grief is less like herding cats and more like trying to herd feral lions in a rainstorm, with nothing more than one’s wits, while the lions are both smarter and more bloodthirsty than you.
Dealing with them while they’re actively furious at him, still mourning their father, and doing their level best to sabotage these talks is, perhaps, the kind of task that only another Feanorian would ever accept.
[Newly rescued from Thangorodrim, Maedhros is trying to assign kingdoms to his brothers. But they're just as invested as him in making his life as difficult as fucking possible.]

Doodlebutt's Amras haunted me since I've read her story, and I wanted to play with him since then. All that happens in this story is between these two paragraphs in that story:
"The next morning, no-one comments on the high collar he wears or the hoarseness of his voice, and only Curufin can meet Maitimo’s eyes for more than a few seconds.

By the time they stand outside the Havens of Sirion, Maedhros has decided that it’s no longer worth the fight."
Of course, the characters do not belong to me, but to Tolkien, I'm just playing with them, without making money or anything.

Summary
In which the first year of Elrond and Elros' new life with the Feanorians is explored. Although they fear the red one with the sour temper and the singer who seems far too nice to be trusted, there is a certain curiosity they feel towards the third and youngest brother: Amras, who did not die immediately during the attack on Sirion, but spent the last few months of his life languishing to the slow effects of poison in Amon Ereb alongside them. With them comes pity as well as a long-lost nostalgia-- for Amras had once been half of a pair too, hadn’t he?
[Probably kidnap fam-centric, even though Amras has somewhat of an important role here.]
