The French Senate decrees that all monarchs sitting on the French throne must be Alphas. They, on a case-by-case basis, may approve of Beta monarchs if the case arises.
Crown Prince Pierre has such approval. There's just one problem, he's not a Beta. He's an Omega.
Enter, Esteban. Sworn to protect Pierre from any dangers that may come his way.
Esteban must keep Pierre's Omega status a secret, navigating a political landscape that becomes harder by the second, constant threats to Pierre's life (from both Pierre and external influences), and emotions that just won't stay out of the way.

“My Alpha is going to be so mad I smell like you.” Lance said but made no attempt to move from where he was curled up against Pierre’s side.
“You’re not mated yet so he’s technically not your alpha yet, so he can’t say anything.” Pierre continued to run his fingers through Lance’s hair. Lance didn’t have a reply to that because Pierre was technically right. Even though he and Esteban have been together for almost 4 years they weren’t officially mated so whatever Lance did with another alpha, Esteban had no control over.

"I know it's weird since we're both Alphas, but I really enjoy wearing your sweaters." Pierre rushed out, refusing to meet Esteban’s eye. For a while it was silent and Pierre knew that whatever progress they had made just went away with one sentence. Pierre was expecting Esteban to start yelling at any moment, calling him a freak and that he never wanted to see him again.
“Pierre, could you look at me?” Pierre didn’t want to, he really didn’t but Esteban sounded so sincere that he couldn’t think about not obeying him right now. Pierre slowly looked up at the alpha, their eyes locking with each other.
“I don’t find it weird that you like wearing my sweaters and like my scent. I think it’s quite sweet.” Esteban took a step closer to the other alpha.

“Lance it’s too late now. You’re with Esteban and I’d never ask you to break off your mating with him. I guess fate was wrong this time.”
“Pierre I feel it too. Since you and Esteban came here there was something about you both that pulled me in. I’m sorry that I never gave you a chance and I’m sorry that we’re hurting you and we didn’t even know but can we please talk before you just leave?”
