Summary
It's a tradition to burn down a Woodland Mansion at every start of a season. Only this time it's not only inhabited by mindless mobs. There is actually an uncorrupted Player Allay there.
Scar and Cub don't really know how to feel about Grian when they help to rescue him. If they'd come just a few weeks later Grian would have become a Vex. And the reminder of what they lost confronts them with feelings they would have liked to forget.
Grian, on the other hand, really just wants to enjoy his newfound freedom and do what Allays are supposed to do - gathering things and causing mischief. Which is hard to do when you’ve been dropped into a foreign world and have no clue where your former crew has ended up. Not to mention the two very intriguing Vex, who give off very mixed signals. Not that Grian is any better at communication.

Grian’s heart almost leapt into his throat when he found out who the voice belonged to.
There’s an individual in the branches above. Their arms are helping to stabilize themselves from falling out of the tree, but their legs are hanging off loosely.
But that was no ordinary individual.
It’s a vex hybrid.

Or: Grian is an allay hybrid that’s trying to stay out of the pillager’s line of hunting. He meets Scar, who’s a vex. Found friendship ensues.

Grian and Scar, against all odds where wed,even though they were meant to be enemies from birth. Scar as a Vex, and Grian as an Allay, were born in the same town, yet didint meet until the twenties, always kept apart by the townspeople. They first meet in a town called Hermitcraft, both called there by a mutual friend they had, Xisuma, invited them, from then on the where almost inseparable, attached at the hip. Over time the friendship grew to be more, and eventually they eloped, never telling anyone but the people of Hermitcraft. When it came time to tell their families, both decided not to, as they just didint want to deal with their reaction to their relationship. They continued to meet up in secret, in the woods behind the village, never to be seen together, yet their love never seemed to fail, until Scars family announced to him he was to be wed to a higher ranking Vex, named Indigo, as it would bring their family more power. Grian breathed heavily, glowing blue wings fluttering swiftly behind him as he jumped over a large root landing roughly on the other side. With a push of his wings he was up and running again, feeling dark hungry eyes on his back. His heart raced, eyes wide as he took in his surroundings trying to run from the thing hunting him. Flapping his wings harder, he began to hover to glide through the brush ignoring the sting of leaves hitting his face and arms. Soon he spotted a hollow at the base of a big tree, quickly he veered off, hopefully losing his chaser and diving into the hollow.
