Summary
The most frustrating thing to Kaeya as he looked at the menacing dragon in front of him was not even the fact he was most likely about to be slaughtered.
Kaeya was fine with dying. Had been, for several years.
No, it was the way Albedo hadn’t acted any differently in the days leading up to this whole fiasco.
The other had sketched him, taken him on a date, babysat Klee, and had even concluded some experiments, all before retreating to Dragonspine shortly after. None of those things were out of the ordinary, nor had he dropped a single hint he’d be turning into a giant fucking dragon anytime soon.
And yet here they were.
Kaeya really should have known better. Should have noticed something was off. Should have realized the other’s retreat to Dragonspine was not simply a fieldtrip this time, but an attempt at protecting Mondstadt from himself before he lost control.
But he hadn’t, meaning he’d have to face the consequences of that ignorance now.
