He breathes a long sigh. Rubs his tired eyes with his fingers in hopes that the images of his dreams remain hidden somewhere behind his eyelids. Of course, to no avail. His memory doesn’t seem to aid him much in the process either, recollections hazy at best and entirely forgotten at worst. Just the smallest of remembrances. A pair of hands grazing across his waist, a knee pressed forcefully between his pried-apart legs. Traces of what once was oh so vivid.

“Soma…” the utterance of his name either goes unnoticed or unacknowledged. Akutsu isn’t sure which. He wriggles a little, tousling the sheets in the process. It isn’t an unbearable pain, even with the way Soma twists the butt of the cigarette against his skin, dousing it in black ash. But it’s just enough. Gratifying in the way it lingers, seared red and angry as it stings. Just enough to leave a permanent reminder.
Soma tosses the remains into the ashtray.
“What is it you like about it?” he asks as he shuffles closer still, tilting his head down enough to lap his tongue against the fresh burn mark, soothing the pain with the warmth of his mouth. The spit dries cold as he pulls back. Cools the heated skin as he continues northwards, pressing little bites and kisses against Akutsu’s jugular.
“Huh?”
“The pain,” Soma clarifies, sinking his teeth into Akutsu’s flesh a final time before he leans up, brushes his nose against the other’s jawline. So close Akutsu can hear him breathing, soft little sounds that tickle his skin and make him shiver. “Is there a reason you like it so much?”

“He was so close to cracking,” Soma spits, sliding a hand into the other’s glossy yellow-blond locks. “So close, but you just had to go and kill him, didn’t you?” He tightens his grip, curls his fingers. Feels the skin of Akutsu’s scalp collecting underneath the blunt edge of his fingernails.
Akutsu’s nothing more than an open mouth. Can’t find the words to say, even if he’d wanted to. Thinks Soma likely wouldn’t listen to him in such a state anyway, teeth grit and brow all furrowed, cheeks painted red with a fury Akutsu’s sure he’s never seen on him. Such stark contrast to his murderous professionalism, all suit and tie. Calm and collected.
The momentary silence is oh so heavy.

Summary
It was funny at first when Akutsu thought their new next door neighbor was a vampire. It was just foolish of him to get caught up in his trance. Soma is no dracula, he's not a blood-drinking vampire, but maybe his main sources of sustenance are unfaithful spouses and turbulent romantic relationships.
Akutsu is happily married and Soma wants to change that.
