AU where of course, the whole 'Alicent getting confused thing' conveniently never happens and everyone has moved on with Rhaenyra crowned as Viserys' successor.
Heir to the throne, Jacaerys Velaryon, is plagued by desires that are only natural for a young prince in his prime. He is truly getting to know himself for the first time, coming to grips with what he's been craving while Aegon sets to procure the utmost object of his obsessions into the palm of his hand.
Jace's twin sister, Daenerys, must conquer her fears and grow up out of the shell of childish isolation she has built for herself. If only she could just go on and choose a husband. She really needed to soon, before it was too late for her, before she was torn apart, ravaged to pieces by both her cruelly licentious uncle, Aemond and depraved stepfather, Daemon.

The slug crawled back up to the tip of her pointer finger. It was a grotesque thing. Aemond grimaced. His sister seemed perfectly content to let it draw trails of slime all over her skin. He shivered at the mere thought of that creature on his own flesh. “It will cloud our eyes and make us cry.” Aemond went back to writing. His hand was beginning to cramp. He worried his pot of ink was going to dry up. “Our tears will taste of ash.”
“Tears taste of salt,” Aemond muttered.
“Not ours.” Came his sister’s voice as soon as his mouth had shut. She stood and walked away with the slug. Aemond set his journal on the desk and left it open to let the ink dry.

Everybody around Aemond is magical, and Rhaenyra swears magic runs through his blood just as thick as the rest of them, yet he his the only one in his family without any abilities. He deems it unfair. Until he is given a book of Dark Magic. -

“I'm sorry Uncle Aemond. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. It's my fault. My fault…” Lucerys wailed, taking the queen's hand. To the horror of everyone else, it was the one that held the dagger. “My fault. Take my eye. I don't deserve it. Please, please… I'm sorry uncle. I was bad. I did bad. I didn't mean to.”
The night at Driftmark ends differently with Lucerys crying apologies in the arms of Queen Alicent, telling her to take his eye for harming his favourite uncle.
Such a change of events leads to the catastrophic present that is known as the chaos formed by the joined hands of a green and black prince. Mayhaps Otto would have prepared himself a grave if he had known this was the outcome of peace.
(Or: Lucerys deals with his family's miscommunication, Aegon is shipped of to Driftmark at the behest of Rhaenys, and Baela is more like her father than she expected.)

On the day Aemond lost an eye, he was but thirteen namedays old, whilst his darling nephew was merely ten, yet there was blood on that sweet boy's hands. Rather than allowing such a thing to go unpunished, both Blacks and Greens suffer a lose that unites them.
Whilst Criston Cole is banished from the crownlands for the entirety of his life and stripped of his titles, Lucerys is banished from King's Landing and Dragonstone until the king seems him worthy to return.
Eight years later, Corlys returns with the prodigal son in tow. No one expected for Lucerys to grow into such a violent thing and neither did they expect for him to follow in his mother's footsteps and claim a Hightower as his best friend.
But eight years is long. With war in his veins and blood staining his hands, Lucerys has changed. For better or for worse, Aemond does not know.
