After the grueling battle that took place in Teyvat had ended, Zhongli and Childe both took up the offer from the twins to start in another world anew with each other. What they didn't know, however, was that their memories of the past would be completely overwritten up until some very specific criterias were met.
Childe has the feeling that he's supposed to be waiting for someone while Zhongli plays it cool and tries to romance him after finding out about their past through an accident.
All in all, at least in the modern world, they're safe without the worries that they once had in the past.
