He can remember that the air that day tasted strangely salty. He can remember the feeling of the wind pushing against his red matted fur. The coarseness of it all after weeks of no hygiene. The way it felt when revenge was just at his fingertips. The way it felt after it continued coursing through his veins even after it was through. The bliss of it all after he looked down at what he’d done. The red and blue lights blinking from the corner of his eye as he stared in amazement at what he was truly capable of. His red masterpiece. He was no longer a puppet on a string. And he never would be again. Not ever. He remembers leaning over the body and whispering to it, “Never again.
