Summary
Inns in Hardorn border towns are neutral grounds, so long as the Sunsguard don't see the Herald and the Valdemarans don't see the priests. Usually this works fine, but one evening found Valdemarans with a Herald and Sunsguard with a priest at the same inn. Two groups of guards signal their outliers, and their outliers reluctantly retreat to the stables for a frigid night.
Turns out, it's too cold to kill ancient enemies. Much easier to swap drinks and tales under a night-long truce, figuring nothing will change in the morning.
And it doesn't. Not yet. But, it just might.

Summary
The Theory: Herald Anur wanted to find out just what his one-night friend meant by claiming the title Firestarter, so he went to the local expert for some answers.
The Practice: Sunpriest Dinesh had more to worry about than contemplating the one-night meeting with a Herald, what with Ancar's raids, losing his unit's trust, and all the blasted screaming.

Summary
A Herald and a Sunpriest walked into a stable, and emerged unscathed, ten months ago. Firestarter Kir Dinesh receives a letter, asking him a deceptively simple question. How does he feel about a spot of treasonous heresy?
He tells himself he's just going to go and see what is going on, but the moment he didn't burn the letter to ash the question was answered and his path in the priesthood took a sharp turn to the right.

Summary
Despite an official declaration of war from Sunhame, the 62nd Cavalry finds themselves running short of everything but enemies. With six weeks until the next supply train, and that timeline flexible depending on the whims of the flighty, foppish Son of Sun, their Sunpriest finds himself considering some truly wild options. After all, a Witch-horse had said it owed him.
As Kir should have expected, crossing the border and finding his Herald was the easy part. Between Queens, Traitors, Firestarters and Witches, it was a miracle his actual mission had been completed at all. But it seemed miracles were becoming a bit more common in Karse than he had thought possible, with a new Son Rising.

Summary
What they had hoped was a one-time solution to a short-term problem wasn't enough. The authorities of the 62nd Cavalry may have been helpless against the whims of Sunhame, but they'd tasted hope in these past days. And desperate men with a taste of hope could do some pretty crazy things.
The tale of two men, their units, a mutual enemy, and the tenuous roots of an alliance.

Summary
Anur's family hadn't seen him in years, his youngest niece didn't actually remember him at all. When they got word he was dragging a friend 'not a Herald' home with him, they were surprised, and then delighted.
When Kir accepted his Herald's invitation, he had been hoping to be distracted from the death shadowing him at the 62nd. He hadn't expected to get dragged into a family that wouldn't let him go for anything.
But both agreed Anur should have given them more information than 'not a Herald'.

Summary
When armies march, masks burn. The 62nd is reminded of just what their priest can do, Herald Griffon accidentally initiates a firestorm he can't control and Herald Anur might have alienated another Heraldic sibling.
But the Rethwellen army made it to Valdemar without getting eaten by Furies, so that's something.

Summary
The wheels of revolution turn slowly, and occasionally need obstacles burned to ash.
Just as well Solaris had a Firestarter on call, burning things to ash was what he did. With a Witch-Enforcer at his back and an increasingly supportive unit falling in behind, His Holiness Firestarter Dinesh was looking to expand his job description. The term 'troubleshooter' comes to mind.

Summary
Solaris, True Born Son of the Sun, has Ascended.
The work has just begun. Time to rediscover the Old Ways, craft new ones and hopefully an Old but new Firestarting Order will be able to emerge from the ashes. Thankfully, one Ancar of Hardorn has obligingly offered plenty of fuel for rebuilding their reputation as protectors of the innocent, rather than burners of children.
Let us set them on fire!

Summary
Kir's family hadn't seen him in years, his younger sister had never actually met him at all. Assuming him dead had been safer for everyone all around, and breaking what could be called a comforting illusion seldom went well.
Kir himself hadn't seen his family in decades, and had consciously avoided thinking about them for years. Assuming them lost to him forever had been safer for everyone all around, and hoping for something else only made it easier to be hurt.
But they all agreed that this was going to be hard.

Summary
It feels like half the nation is converging on Sunhame in the hopes of glimpsing another series of miracles - hopes that all those actually involved in the last year's miracles are, in turn, very much hoping will be dashed.
Unfortunately for all involved, there will be few, if any, miracles. There will be no less work.

Summary
Spring is the season of new beginnings and fresh growth, but the start of a war far too few believe is coming likely isn't quite what that sentiment intends. Between border-folk seeing signs years ago, oddly knowing soldiers pressing the issue whenever they can and support from the highest echelons of Sunhame, if not those they could use the direct assistance of, the Firestarters of Karse have more allies in this than they've had in centuries.
But will allies from within be enough?
