Summary
The Musketeers are reeling and recovering from a recent ordeal, each in their own way: Athos is trying to make up for his mistakes, d’Artagnan is more afraid than he cares to admit, Porthos is furious, and Aramis is…touched. Meanwhile, the summer is easing itself out hot and stinking…and something is coming to Paris
Sequel to The Dying Of The Light. (Not really an AU, just a sort of canon-divergence into spooky-town)
NOTES: please please do yourself a favour and read the tags for warnings. (Stuff in chapter 4 will be marked so readers can skip a certain passage if they want).
However, we also have: banter! Jokes! Some laughs! Paris geography! Lads looking out for each other, despite it all! And NO major character deaths!

Summary
“I think you should leave,” Aramis hears himself say, “I can feel him coming. And he knows you’re here.”
He wiggles his toes in thought, and by the cool expanse beneath his feet he is reminded that they are in the hallway. “Flagstone, though. Not too hard to clean the blood up afterwards.”
The men rush at him but they make it only a few steps. Something huge and dark slips almost silently through the doors, and then there are sounds, lots of them, wet and screaming.
Aramis stands and closes his eyes calmly until the sounds stop.
Something bumps beneath his loose fingers and pushes his hand up until it is laying against soft warm fur, the huge expanse of animal muscle and sinew beneath.
“Hello d’Artagnan,” Aramis says.”
*
Aramis and d’Artagnan are in the countryside, testing the boundaries of who they are now that they have been so completely altered by their encounters with the supernatural.
A small interim adventure in this series. Set immediately after the end of “And Death Shall Have No Dominion”
