Katsuki turned to look at a few trees before he heard the deafening rustle of branches snapping. He whipped around, and his mouth fell open.
Izuku was standing there, a full-sized Christmas tree balanced on one shoulder with a thoughtful look on his face.
Izuku noticed Katsuki staring and tilted his head, pine needles tangling into his curly hair. “Kacchan? What’s wrong?”
“Uh,” Katsuki said uncharacteristically, still looking at the tree.
Izuku frowned and put the tree down like it was a five-pound weight and not a seven-foot fucking tree.
“Let's look at a few more,” Izuku said, dusting off his palms.

Katsuki looked ethereal, snow in his hair and cheeks red from the cold. His pale skin glowed in the moonlight, lips tipped up into a small, secret smile as he watched the sky.
The words slipped out before Izuku could stop them.
“I love you,” he breathed, then slapped his hands over his mouth.
Katsuki’s head whipped over to stare at him with wide eyes.
“Uh,” Izuku said, “April Fools?”
There was a painful pause.
“It’s December,” Katsuki replied, strained.
