Summary
It wasn’t just Eddie that loved him, after all. It was Chris, and Maddie, Bobby, Athena, Chim, Hen, the entire 118 family that they’d made and chosen together. There were so many people who loved Buck, and Eddie was just one. He wondered, at the back of his mind, if that’s why he’d tricked himself into thinking what he felt couldn’t possibly be the love it was. Because somehow, he’d fooled himself into believing that Buck didn’t need to know, that Buck had to already see how valued he was. But Eddie knew Buck, maybe better than he knew anyone. He knew how little Buck thought of himself, how minimally he trusted people to stay.
Eddie would stay. He wanted it more than anything, in that one moment. He wanted to stay, he wanted Buck to stay, and he wanted to tell him.
"When he wakes up, I’ll tell him. Please, just let him wake up."
OR, Buck gets struck by lightning, and Eddie gets struck with a realization.

Summary
Because yes, he can acknowledge it’s usually not really his fault. He’s hurt, he lashes out, it happens. He’s human. But he doesn’t want to do that again, he doesn’t want to be the one blamed– or worse, pitied– when things go wrong again. If they go wrong. He really hopes they don’t.
“Hey.” Eddie squeezes his hand again, tight enough it almost hurts, but Buck is grateful for the contact, holding just as tight. “We got this.”
We. Right. Because this time, where Maddie has Chim, Buck has Eddie. Sure, last few times, he and Maddie were a team, they were there for each other because that's what you do for your sibling. But it’s different, having someone on the outside there for you, choose to be there for you. And Buck– he’s never had that before, not quite like this. Someone here for him, not for anyone or anything else.
“Yeah. We got this.”
He believes it. He does. This will be fine.
OR, the Buckley parents come back to L.A. again. It goes about as well as can be expected.

Summary
Christmas might have lost its magic for Maddie by then, but she’d be damned if she let it happen to either of her brothers. She recalls, now, how Daniel had looked up at her then, eyes sunken but lit with the glow of Christmas, even without those twinkling lights.
“Maddie makes Christmas magic like you wouldn’t believe,” He’d told Evan, who babbled back to him. “There are a lot of great things to believe in at Christmas, but Maddie is the most important one, Evan. Don’t ever forget that.”Or, Christmas, as told through the years by Maddie Buckley-Han.
