First, he was captured and tortured by necromancers who followed Orcus, and how they had loved to have a Cleric of the Raven Queen in their hands. He had managed to escape, but the chase was painful and the fall in the snow almost killed him before his captures did. Then pain. Hearing the voice of his Matron. His bones breaking, joints popping, skin tearing– a beautiful pair of raven black wings emerging from his back, and taking him away in the wind.
But out of the fire and into the frying pan.
