Summary
Steve is sick. Which might as well mean Eddie’s entire world is ending.
He never thought it would be so horrible to return to his reality of a mere four months ago—of no Steve-kisses or Steve-hugs, of no Steve-cuddles or Steve-anything—but it’s horrible. It’s possibly the worst thing that’s ever happened to him, and Eddie was nearly eaten alive a year ago.

Summary
Eddie had known better. Known better than to let a pretty, rich boy sweep him off his feet. Known that letting Steve’s big warm eyes and kind smile and sweet words and gentle touches melt right through all of the ways he keeps people at arms length was letting himself get swept up.
He just thought Steve would catch him.

Summary
Eddie does not do well with following directions. Especially when those directions do not align with doing whatever he fancies.
If Eddie really wanted to psychoanalyze, go all armchair psychologist, he’d blame it on his years in foster care. The years before he was finally placed with Wayne. All the days and weeks and months of… not having control over anything.
So moving in with Wayne meant freedom. Meant control. Meant growing out all his hair and chopping in layers. Meant getting tattoos and listening to music and donning clothes that made mothers call him devil worshipper. Because he could.
But it all, apparently, might be end up being what sends Steve Harrington into an early grave.

Summary
Steve’s over it. Over boys wasting his Friday nights. Nights he could be out with Robin. Nights Steve could be having fun.
He should’ve cut his losses after dinner. It was obvious from the jump that the guy hadn’t even tried. Showed up wearing the fugliest jeans Steve’s ever had the displeasure of beholding and hasn’t bothered to ask a single question the entire night. Their dinner conversation overflowed with advice on building Steve’s investment portfolio, anecdotes about his 5-9 before his 9-5, quotes on how much protein Steve should be getting in a day, and now he doesn’t even have the decency to get up and dance when Chappell Roan comes on.
OR: Steve is having a very bad date. Until he meets someone new.

Summary
In his defense, Eddie had said from the beginning that the kids were too old for this shit.
But Dustin had looked at him with his stupid, over-large eyes and pleaded that their childhood had been ripped away from them, Eddie, they never got the chance to play this because they were hunting monsters, Eddie, they were saving the world, Eddie, and, well. Eddie couldn’t really deny them, after that.
Which is how he finds himself hiding from El. Stuffed inside the Harrington’s pool shed. It’s a creepy little place, houses a giant pump that whirs like an engine and old, dusty inflatables that brush against his neck and shoulders. It’s dark and cramped and filled with cobwebs, and why had Eddie thought this would be a good hiding place?

Summary
Eddie’s still outside when headlights flash. When the familiar roar of the engine approaches and cuts, when the familiar shape, even in silhouette, ambles out.
Steve doesn’t say anything. Doesn’t mention the half-full ashtray or Eddie’s bloodshot eyes, his curled up position or the flutter of the curtain behind them. Just sits down beside him.
And Eddie’s never been good at this. At asking. At accepting, but Steve places his hand between them, and offers.Series

Summary
Steve thought he could handle it. Thought there had been enough time since the summer previous and now for that hazy, fuzzy feeling that used to wrap him up so comfortingly in its sweet embrace to do as it’s always done: to release the tension from his muscles. To slow down his thoughts, to make the world feel soft and color everything in syrupy warmth.
But it hasn’t. Obviously.
There’s a cold sweat on his temples. Under his arms. There’s a tension creeping up his spine and rattling his chest, and his fingers are clenched so tightly into the dirt and grass that he can feel it under his nails, the blades crushed against his palm.
He doesn’t want Eddie to notice.
Or: Steve panics, Eddie’s there to comfort him.

Summary
Eddie kisses the tip of his finger, then presses it to the crease of Steve’s brow. “I’m fine. Promise. ‘Ve done this a million times.”
And okay. Eddie has done this a million times, or near enough, but goddamn does color hurt like a special son of a bitch. It’ll be his only color tattoo though. Forever. Black ink only, except for this new heart on his arm.
A heart for his heart. For the one that lives outside of him.
Steve’s either gonna love it or break up with him.
Wouldn’t that be fucked up.

Summary
He hates traffic jams. There is nothing, nothing that gets on his nerves quicker than being stuck in traffic, and his boyfriend, beside him, pleased as punch, makes a cheering noise to his right.
“Take that, you pompous, self-righteous, asshole!”
Apparently, he’s defeating the elite four.
“Stevie!” He begins, slapping Steve’s arm, “I totally just KO’ed his Haxorus!”
Steve has no goddamn idea what a Haxorus is.

“We have a problem,” Eddie interrupts.
Steve stares at him for a moment, lets himself admire how Eddie’s first two buttons of his shirt are undone, exposing skin, how his shirt sleeves are cuffed around his elbows, before turning on his heel.
“No,” Steve corrects, “you have a problem. I have an idiot who keeps getting into them.”

Something wet thwops against his back and Eddie nearly loses his footing as he sprints from the cafeteria.
“You’re not gonna get away from me that easily, Munson!”
Goddamn jocks. Goddamn jocks and their goddamn sports and their goddamn traditions of food fights after winning a game.
Goddamn it.
~~~
Or: During a school-wide food fight, Eddie takes in a lost sheep in the form of one Steve Harrington.
Summary
Eddie Munson is no one’s baby. No one’s honey or babe or darling either, because Eddie isn’t into that cutesy crap. Not into Valentine’s Day or date nights, not into giving people flowers or chocolates or romance, because that is not how Eddie Munson rolls.
Not for anyone, that is, besides one.
Because Eddie Munson would do anything for Steve Harrington. Would do anything to make him smile. Would do a backflip off a high rise or jump through flaming hoops, would fight the actual fucking devil and give his life for the cause.
So really, what actually makes Steve Harrington smile is small potatoes, in comparison.
Summary
Eddie doesn’t believe in a lot in this world. Doesn’t believe in the Raegans or quite literally anyone in Washington, doesn’t believe in a God or any of His angels, but he does believe in Steve.
So Eddie sits by the window. Watches as each flashes of headlights appears only to pass by the trailer, each and every time.
Summary
No one uses Eddie’s real name. Nearly as few people know it. Which is just how he likes it.
Because it’s not Edward, contrary to popular belief. It’s not Edwin or Edgar and definitely not Edmund, thank god.
He likes to think his spine has better structural integrity than a Turkish Delight.
It’s not that he doesn’t like his real name. He does. It just feels—
It feels private. Like his real name is something that beats within the true heart of him. One that isn’t for anyone else to use.
Anyone save one.
“Sweetheart?”
The lights go out.
Steve scrambles off the couch, nearly taking himself out at the knees over Eddie’s coffee table, and lunges for the lamp on the side table. It wouldn’t be enough, but it would be something. It would, if Steve was lucky, be enough for Eddie to—
“Steve—?”
“Get behind me.”
The lights flicker, and it makes Steve realize some things.
Robin swallows. There’s tomato skin caught between her front teeth. “It’s good,” she defends, “I’m going to miss it.”
Steve looks down at his own greasy slice. “I’m pretty sure Boston is going to have better pizza than Hawkins.”
Robin plucks the peperoncini from its soggy little spot in the corner of the box. She bites into it, chewing everything but the stem. “No,” she disagrees, “I don’t think it will.”
“I’m so sorry, Steve.”
The words stop him from slamming the door in Eddie’s face. Because he wants to forgive him, is the thing, despite Robin’s fuck Eddie attitude. He wants to hear what he has to say. He wants to have Eddie on his doorstep a little longer, even if it’s just to see his face.
He wants to go back to the way they were. He wants, more than anything, to never have told Eddie he loves him.
OR:
They're both a little messed up. They figure it out anyway.
“Press this button and you’re live,” Jeff says, after flipping a few more switches and adjusting a few more dials, tapping the microphone next to the big red power button. He slaps Eddie’s shoulder, and hands him the microphone. “I still think this is a bad idea,” he prefaces, “but go get your man, Patrick Verona.”
He dips, and Eddie doesn’t blame him. Mrs. Click is going to be pissed.
He takes a deep breath.
Now or never.
Eddie wants to ask Steve Harrington to homecoming, and he pulls out all the stops.
Summary
“You’re a grumpy barnacle,” Steve had murmured to him, fifteen years ago, now, with Eddie’s arms wrapped tight around his waist, Eddie’s face pressed to the space between his shoulder blades. And he only furthered Steve’s point by groaning, by squeezing him tighter, because the only things that made Eddie’s mornings worth anything, who does still, is the person he gets to spend them with.
OR:
Eddie’s not a morning person, but he’s really going to want to be awake for this one.
