Summary
The throne room was bathed in darkness. Only the few remaining end rods lit up the floor, and while many holes littered the walls of the castle, the starlight wasn’t enough to fill the room.
Legundo stared ahead, watching the entrance to the throne room without seeing. His thumb caressed the sigil ring he’d taken off his left hand. The gold of it was darker and older than the newly made ring on his right hand, the mark of his marriage to Sneve. For once, the sigil ring weighed lighter than the other, his purpose finally fulfilled.
He sat on the iron throne. He had won.
Or, Legundo wins the war, but there’s a few loose ends he wants to tie and kings he has to deal with before he can revel in his victory

Summary
Sean knew there wouldn’t be enough space for the both of them on the helicopter. One way or another, one of them was going to die, whether it would be after their rescue or before.
Shadow walked along the edge of the building with his eyes on the horde below. His fingers were curled tightly around his katana, ashen skin turning nearly a perfect white from the pressure. He sent the occasional, ever so slightly distrustful look towards him. They were both circling the three lights that were meant for the helicopter, to stay as far away from each other as they could. By now, only one of the three was still lit, the rest broken by the explosion which had taken out Kiply and Robert.
He was going to pay for that, by the way. He was going to pay for a lot of things.
Or, the finale of the evolved zombie apocalypse scenario, but Sean is a lot more infected than he let on

Summary
It wasn’t possible. He’d say he watched him die, but Shadow was the exact person who drove the sword through his stomach, who murdered him. He’d taken what was supposed to be his final life and left him to be buried by others.
He didn’t even realise he’d walked over until he stood in the middle of the crowd and Sneve’s eyes fell on him. “Hello there, stranger!” he called out, that typical half-grin of his on his face as they locked eyes. Hands strumming a random tune on his instrument, he showed no recognition, didn’t differ him from anyone else.
Shadow’s hand was moving before he even registered it. Whatever code he’d built up over the years, shattered in an instant. Don’t show your face, except he wanted Sneve to know. Don’t let anyone close, except he’d missed him so much. Do not let anyone, under any circumstance, know your true identity, except he wasn’t a stranger to him. All his rules, broken with just one slow movement to pull the mask from his nose so it hung below his chin.
Or, years after the battle for the Iron Throne, Shadow and Sneve meet once again

Summary
Turning his head to the right, Shadow saw the shape of Sean’s ship sailing calmly parallel to them. It was far away — too far for either of them to open fire, just in case — and if he squinted, he could just barely make out a person walking on the deck past a lit lantern.
Uneven footsteps approached. He looked up to the sky, knowing exactly who those belonged to. He really wasn’t surprised the man was still awake, he didn’t need sleep, but him leaving his cabin during the night was something Shadow hadn’t expected.
“Nervous?” Robert asked, knowing not to announce his presence, it wouldn’t be necessary. Shadow knew his footsteps by heart.
Or, as they sail to the Ice Maze, Shadow and Robert talk. Robert asks him something he wasn’t prepared for.

Summary
Legundo had found him.
Seeing him ripped a breathless laugh from his throat — prosperous times had done him well — before it stole all the air from his lungs. He’d found him. Shadow’s smile froze. He’d found him, and he was going to kill him.
So, before those striking eyes could find him, he hid behind the crowd. He swallowed thickly, backing away to hurry home. It took effort not to turn around, to see Legundo again like he so badly wanted to, so much so that he had to clench his nails into his skin to stop himself, and he had to force himself to keep looking ahead as he used the shadows to remain unseen.
Or, after the battle for the Iron Throne, Shadow had meant to stay hidden forever, make himself a new life without kings or crowns to ruin his life. But somehow, Legundo finds him again. It ends differently than he expected.

Summary
Sean really hoped Shadow would take his silence as shock, and not as what it actually was. They were both staring out the window, in genuine horror, as the tall figure of a dweller sniffed at Robert’s fresh corpse. His eyes were still wide in fear, head lying in the quickly reddening snow.
It was his fault. It was all his fault. He should’ve been there to open the door and let him inside. He should’ve been by Robert’s side, given him a chance to run.
But he’d failed as a friend, and now he couldn’t breathe. Petals were clogging up his throat. If he coughed, he’d be able to get rid of them, but Shadow stood right next to him. He could hold his breath. He’d rather choke for a little bit than let him know he was sick.
Or, during their deadly holiday challenge, Sean fails to hide his hanahaki any longer

Summary
Ryan fell to his knees the moment the world released him from the glitch that’d held him prisoner. His vision twisted and turned, and he would’ve fallen face-first into the stone if his hand didn’t shoot up to catch himself. He gasped for air, as if it’d been kept from him for hours.
What- what happened?
A groan escaped him. He pushed himself to his feet, shaky as he was, stumbling towards the wall to keep him from falling a second time. He let his head lean against it, closing his eyes to stop everything from spinning. A gross taste occupied the back of his throat but he swallowed it down, this wasn’t the time.
Because he was still in the midst of a battle. Sean still needed him, Shadow still needed him. He blindly reached for the sword on his hip. He was still a king, and he could still fight.
Or, in the final battle of Game of Thrones, Ryan comes back from a brief glitch. He hides from the entirety of Legundo’s remaining army, completely and utterly alone.

Summary
Convincing themselves the dome would hold had been nothing more than wishful thinking. They were clinging to a last hope that they hadn’t failed the moment the infection began, that there was still a chance they could get out of this alive. But that hope, just like their other resources, was rapidly running out.
