Summary
Alastor could feel Lucifer watching him.
Even though the fallen angel stood across the room, apparently engrossed in his conversation with Charlie over what kinds of foliage might be likely to survive the acid rain if planted in the garden, Alastor could feel his eyes burning a hole in his back.
Or, more accurately, slightly lower.
Deliberately, Alastor crossed one ankle in front of the other and leant ever-so-slightly further forward over the bar, resting on his elbows as he affected to be listening to what Angel and Husk were discussing.
His smile widened as his ears swivelled to catch the sound of Lucifer stumbling over his words. Not an uncommon occurrence, admittedly, but it was gratifying to be the cause of his discomposure.

Summary
Lucifer glanced at the tall sinner looming above him. He blinked once, pausing.
“Hmm. Creepy,” he commented, before going back to his book.
Wait, what?
Usually the king had far more of a reaction to Alastor's sudden appearances, and it didn't really matter to the demon whether that reaction was positive or negative.
His dismissal today was, frankly, insulting.
Annoyed static filled the air, and by this stage the king should be well aware of the differences in Alastor's frequencies enough to offer an immediate apology for his absolutely unsuitable reaction to the radio demon taking the time to seek him out.
Apparently, Lucifer was particularly obtuse today.

Summary
Lucifer was pretending to be asleep.
Alastor had known the moment the king awoke - heard the way he suddenly held his breath to better hear the sounds of soft breathing coming from behind him, his body stilling in surprise as he realised the demon was still in his bed, even as the red sky lightened to dawn outside.
He understood Lucifer's surprise – on all other occasions, the demon had swept back to his rooms once their encounter was over. Usually once the king had already fallen asleep, abandoning the warm covers for his own cool bed and the comfort of solitude.
The day had not yet started. If Alastor closed his eyes and listened only to the definitely-asleep-breathing coming from above his head, he could almost forget about all the responsibilities, the risks, the power plays and manipulative games that his daily life was made up of. Even if it was only for a brief, fragile moment in time, locked away in the minutes before dawn broke - such that dawn ever broke, in Hell.
That was one benefit of sleeping with the king of Hell. There was no point engaging in a game for power when your opponent held every single one of the cards.

Summary
Alastor hadn't seen Lucifer around the hotel in days.
It wasn't exactly that he was looking for him, it was just that his absence was... conspicuous.
And he couldn't even ask anyone about it, considering nobody else was commenting on it, either, so for him to bring it up may seem particularly suspicious.
Charlie seemed a little down, but not surprised by her father's sudden disappearance. Just... subdued. Perhaps she was resigned to her father's unexplained absences.
The worst thing was, he'd tried slinking through the shadows into Lucifer's rooms to see what he was doing, the first day he'd gone twenty four hours without emerging, only to find himself blocked by a never before present wall of angelic power.
Rude.

Summary
Lucifer was upset at him.
More than upset – there had been plenty of times he'd irritated the king, after all - pissed him off, riled him up – If he had simply been furious at Alastor, it would have been better than this...
This...
This cold silence, which was all the king was giving him.
Alastor had known the moment he'd let slip that one insult too far that he had overstepped, unable to stop the vicious words flying from his tongue, poison dripping from his throat as the king only looked at him, eyes widening in shock before a snarl had flared on his face and he'd bitten back.
Well, Alastor's flexibility was one of his more impressive qualities.
It came in handy when he made the decision to put his foot all the way in his mouth.

Summary
For roughly the sixth time that morning, Alastor wondered how in the seven rings he'd agreed to such a ridiculous outing.
His gaze fell to the king, strolling along at the front of the group, smiling affectionately up at his daughter as she expounded about how good it was to get everyone out of the hotel.
Lucifer – yes, he could be blamed for the fact that Alastor had been talked into coming along to something so... absurd.
The man had not played fair.
How could Alastor be held accountable for agreeing to participate, when he'd barely woken up? And the king had immediately pulled his head onto the shorter man's lap, dragging his claws over his ears like that?
Devious little thing.
And so, whether he liked it or not, he was now being forced to partake in this display of camaraderie.
This...
Mini-golf.

Summary
Lucifer shot to his feet, striding across the room and wrenching the door open, wincing as the sound of static assaulted his senses. Well, that solved at least some of the mystery about who had crashed into his bathroom, but still left the far more pressing matter of why.
“Alastor, what the Hell are you – Alastor?” his tone changed abruptly from annoyance to concern, having to change the automatic upturn of his neck when he realised there was no radio demon standing anywhere within the bathroom.
Nope, not standing.
There was a radio demon currently trying to haul himself to his feet using the edge of the bathtub, shoes slipping on Golden Glow body wash.
Shit.

Summary
“Alastor?” Vaggie asked, raising her brow at him. Alastor stopped glaring at the paper and looked up, a quizzical smile falling onto his face with minimal effort.
“Why is your shadow freaking out on the other side of the room?” the ex-exterminator asked flatly, sounding incredibly unamused. He looked over to where she was pointing, his eyes narrowing as he saw the way it was darting around the kitchen door.
It felt his attention and stilled, the picture of submission.
“We are not on speaking terms at the moment, dear,” Alastor informed her mildly.
She blinked, crossing her arms over her chest.
“That is an ominous and horrifying thing to hear, and I haven't had enough coffee to deal with whatever weird shit you've got going on,” Vaggie deadpanned, turning away.

Seduction wasn't exactly something Alastor had experience with. Truthfully, he felt a little awkward thinking about it. Oh – teasing the king, that he could do, but he wouldn't necessarily call it seduction.
Well, in for a penny.

One of the perks of fucking the king of Hell?
Access to the royal library.
Alastor had long ago reached a standstill on new avenues of investigation, when it came to finding a loophole in his deal. Still – perhaps somebody, once, had made a similar arrangement, and it had chanced to be written down.

Summary
Alastor had awoken before the king – he often did, sleep wasn't something that held him in its sway for long.
He turned his attentions to the king's back, narrowing his eyes at the expanse of white skin.
Unmarked and smooth.
Nothing like his own, of course – no scars broke up the pale flesh. The only physical damages he bore from his fall were the blackened arms, the legs ending in hooves, the sharp teeth – and, the more hidden traits, of course.
It was one of those hidden traits that Alastor was trying to find, curiously searching the king's shoulders and spine for any indication.
“Where do your wings go?”

Well, it had finally happened.
Hell had frozen over.
Very well – perhaps that was a slight exaggeration – Lucifer had cheerfully informed them all that this actually occurred every few thousand years.
Alastor had decided he wasn’t a fan.

Summary
Alastor awoke with a start, jerked from his sleep by the feeling of arms wrapped almost bone crushingly tight around his torso, and the sound of wind rushing in his ears.
It was a few seconds later that he realised the two of them were miles above the city, the pentagram large – but shrinking at an alarmingly rapid pace – above them.
What he saw made his head spin.
Not only the sight of the hotel, a tiny speck in the distance – that was bad enough.
And they – they kept falling.

Summary
Although Alastor had initially been annoyed at Rosie's tendency to act like a mother hen whenever he was injured, he couldn't deny that he appreciated her company in the kitchen.
He'd already decided before retiring the previous night – before that painful wake up call – that he was going to cook dinner for the king.
Cooking was something he genuinely enjoyed, particularly when he was able to share it with somebody he cared about.
And – yes. Lucifer fit that description, evidently, and much to his own surprise.

Summary
In the back of his mind, Alastor knew he wasn't acting entirely rationally.
It didn't stop the frantic terror that was flooding him, did nothing to stem the tides of his panic.
He was relieved beyond measure to find Lucifer seated at his workstation, forked tongue poking between his lips as he concentrated on some kind of spring and cog mechanism.

Summary
Showers held some kind of magic, all their own. Alastor was convinced of that fact.
How else could one explain the way a person emerged from one, having gone in emotionally ruined, able to once again function as a human – or, in his case, demon?
If staying overnight in the king's room had become a habit – if bathing here was to join that experience – he might need to bring a few things over from his own suite.
Namely, a hair dryer.

He could get up.
Alastor could get up and find some other way to amuse himself – work on ideas for his broadcast, read a novel, even see if Husk was still up and about in the bar – but the bed was warm, and comfortable, and the man beside him had proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that no matter what humiliating state Alastor showed up in, he wasn't leaving.
How had Lucifer done this to him?

Summary
Despite not being a member of the staff, Charlie evidently had no compunctions about ordering her father to help out where she thought he was needed – and where she thought he was needed had been in flying Niffty up to the chandeliers, giving them a good dust.
Niffty had shown no hesitation in leaping onto Lucifer's shoulders, the man wincing as she jabbed sharp feet into his skin and tugged at his hair, enthusiastically directing him like some kind of royal pony. It seemed Alastor was no longer the only one to enjoy her somewhat dubious attentions – and he couldn't exactly say he was sorry for that.
Lucifer had obviously escaped, and Alastor only hoped he hadn't left the poor woman stranded, hanging from one of the chandeliers.

Summary
“Did you wanna dance?” Lucifer asked, looking up to see Alastor watching the party goers. The demon turned a surprised look on the shorter man.
“With you?”
“Well, you don't need to sound like it's the worst idea in the world. I can dance, you know,” Lucifer muttered, glancing away, lower purple lids making an appearance as he pulled an offended face.
Alastor's hand twitched, the sinner barely restraining himself from reaching out and smoothing away the pout Lucifer had decided to wear.

Summary
Alastor thought that he might – might – have reacted slightly unfairly to the king's questions. After all – he was a curious man. And Alastor hadn't exactly been coherent during that incident of his, so could he really blame the ruler for trying to find out more?
(For going behind his back about it? Yes, absolutely, but perhaps it wasn't worth dismissing this entire thing over.)
But something in him did balk at the idea that this – this – might be enough to shatter the fragile trust he'd built up towards the king.
He really didn't want it to be the case – and he was sure Lucifer would have an appropriate explanation for his behaviour.
