Summary
It took Agent Coulson all of two minutes to hire her as an employee for SHIELD. It took Darcy two whole days to find an apartment she could afford. At that increasing rate, it would probably take a full two weeks for her to move in. At least, it certainly seemed that way, what with Darcy spending most of her time sitting on a bare wooden floor waiting for the delivery guys to come.
Darcy, being the impatient person that she was, chose to go get some food. Unbeknownst to her, though, the events that followed would change the rest of her life.
AKA - Prequel #1 to Her Big, Green, Guardian Angel - This story tells of the first time that Darcy (briefly) met the Hulk. Part of a series, but can be read as a standalone.

Summary
All at once there were several large crashing noises and dozens of car horns blared.
Bad. This could be very, very bad.
"Uh... Darcy," the friend she had forgotten she was still on the phone with said. "Did..."
"Did we just lose power throughout the entire city? Yeppers." She paused, glancing at the device in her hand. "Hey, but my phone is still working, so that's a plus."
As if voice activated, her phone suddenly sparked and the screen went blank, taking Jane's picture with it. "Dang it," Darcy growled. That was brand new, and there were only so many times she could claim that it was a work-related accident before finance stopped approving her replacement requisitions. Although, being SHIELD, they probably had a higher maximum allowance than most places.

Summary
Darcy tried to control the urge to yell and slid further down on the floor. "You can assist me," she shout-whispered, cupping her hand by her mouth near the receiver, "by getting someone, preferably someone with superpowers, down to the lobby stat because something is about to go..."
She trailed off as she saw a shadow appear on the nearest wall. The cackle this time was loud and close, causing a rush of goosebumps to trail down her arms.
"Miss Lewis?"
Rising from her hiding place, phone still by her ear, Darcy whispered, "Send someone. Anyone!" Then she ended the call and turned, coming face-to-face with a figure that would have terrified her as a child.

Summary
Somewhere along the way, Darcy became friends with the Hulk.
Basically it all came about that the Hulk seemed to have made it his personal mission to rescue Darcy whenever there was trouble underway. Darcy didn't mind so much because it meant she didn't die.
Really, it was just a small sacrifice of her dignity to not put up a fight when the big green guy swished her up into the air. It was what ensured that she got to go to bed every night relatively unscathed and for that she wouldn't complain.
